Britney Spears: the clues left on Instagram that her fans interpret as calls for help

Britney Spears, who is fighting to end her guardianship put in place since 2008 by her father, has been able to count on her fans in recent years. Worried, they scoured his Instagram posts for clues proving his difficulties. Femme Actuelle takes stock.

If Britney Spears is today involved in a public legal battle to end the tutelage that her father has imposed on her since 2008, she has remained discreet about her difficulties for twelve years. A very relative discretion, if we are to believe his fans. Members of the #FreeBritney movement discovered what they believed to be clues that she needed help on her Instagram account in recent years.

It all started on May 5, 2020, when the Gimme More singer posted a video of her sniffing flowers. Some analyzed the video and thought they saw a man at a window behind her. Others saw something suspicious fall, or a number on the back of his head. Many identified the FBI in the comments.

Were Britney Spears Fans Right?

Two months later, on July 13, 2020, they thought they spotted a black eye in one of his photos. In his second post of the day, the superstar shared a painting of Hans Zatzka, known to have used pseudonyms in order to break his contracts without penalties. It took them no less to draw a parallel with the life of their idol. Third post: her unmanicured hands with chipped varnish, holding daisies. "Her fingernails, my god, nobody's taking care of her," responded a fan. An interpretation that turned out to be true: on June 23, 2021 during a hearing to end her guardianship, Britney Spears revealed that she had been banned from receiving cosmetic treatments for a year while her relatives were entitled to it, reveals the Daily Mirror.

Yellow to call for help?

In September 2020, she posted a photo in a yellow top, after her fans asked her to wear the color to let them know she was okay. Five months later, the documentary Framing Britney Spears, from the prestigious New York Times, lifted the veil on its problems, and re-launched the movement for its "liberation". On June 25, 2021, two days after a hearing in which she confided in on the ordeals she went through, she apologized for "pretending to be well for the past two years" on Instagram.
