Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Win Award for Choice to Have 2 Children

The lives of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are constantly stealing attention. The couple recently won an award for making the "brightening decision" to have two children.

Reporting from The Sun, Sunday, July 11, 2021, Charity Population Matters said it had awarded Meghan Markle and Prince Harry with a "Special Award". The award was given because this husband and wife reduce their impact on the environment.

Meghan and Harry stepped down as senior royals in March 2022. They have just welcomed the birth of their second child, a girl named Lilibet Diana on June 4, 2021, after previously having a son named Archie on May 6, 2019.

Meanwhile, the UK-based charity is campaigning to achieve a sustainable population. It said Meghan and Harry were recognized as "role models for other families".

"In voting and publicly declaring their intention to limit their family to two, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are helping to ensure a better future for their children and setting an example for other families," a spokesperson for the charity said.

Charities continue to have smaller families reducing the impact on Earth and providing better opportunities for children and future generations to thrive on a healthy planet. They also praised Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's decision.

"We commend the Duke and Duchess for taking this enlightening decision, and for affirming that the smaller family is also a happy family," the spokesperson added.

Harry spoke about his intention to have "two children, maximum" when speaking with chimpanzee expert Dr Jane Goodall in Vogue magazine in 2019. During the chat, Harry mentioned that he only wanted two children in an effort to help save the planet.

"I think, oddly enough, because of the people I've met and the places I've been lucky enough to visit, I've always had a connection and a love for nature. I see it differently now, without question," Prince Harry said.

"I always wanted to try and confirm that, even before having kids and wishing to have kids..." Harry explained.

Goodall said at once he wished these parents didn't have many children. "Two (children), maximum," said Prince Harry.
