What happened to Prince Harry's position in BetterUp? Will he get paid?

Prince Harry has taken up a new job at a coaching and mental health business in California. How much is he getting paid for the role?

Prince Harry has landed his first paid job after confirming earlier this year that he and Meghan Markle will not be returning to life as a royal. The couple moved to Canada last year before settling in their $14.7million (£10.7million) home in California. How much is he earning for the role and what is his net worth?

The Duke of Sussex has been appointed Chief Impact Officer at BetterUp, a professional coaching and mental health firm.

Prince Harry has said he is “really excited” to have started the new role, where he aims to “lift up crucial dialogues around mental health”.

The company’s app is used by corporate giants like Facebook and Google to improve the mental health of its staff.

BetterUp was co-founded in 2013 by Alexi Robichaux, who said the idea came to him while on a pilgrimage in Spain.

Valuing itself at £1.2billion, the company has said it tripled its revenue in 2018.

What’s more, the app has secured £217million from venture capitalists.

The company hasn’t revealed how much Prince Harry will be getting paid to take on the role, however, roles at similar level can demand up to six figure salaries.

Prince Harry’s official photo on their website is also listed alongside other senior leadership colleagues.

Speaking to Sky News this morning, Alexi Robichaux, BetterUp CEO, said: "We were just so impressed, and really I think there was such a natural chemistry and synergy around the insights and the contributions he can make creatively to BetterUp in ensuring that we achieve our mission.

"Bigger than commercial success, this is about global impact, and so as we crafted the role together, those four buckets of opportunities, we came to the title 'chief impact officer', really denoting that he's focused on our mission and he's focused on ensuring that we're doing everything we can to achieve our mission on a bigger and larger and grander scale to impact the lives of more people."

Describing what Harry will do, he added: "He's also helping to work on everything from product design to product strategy, to co-creating content and the experience for our members and helping with partnerships, like creating some new content for our users related to mental toughness and mental fitness as well."

How much are Prince Harry and wife Meghan actually worth?

In the interview with Oprah, Harry revealed that he took on multiple deals like Netflix and Spotify after being cut off financially by the Royal Family.

The Prince said deals with the streaming giants were “never part of the plan”, but he needed the money to pay for his and Meghan’s security.

However it is estimated that the couple have a combined net worth of £23million.

Most of Meghan’s wealth comes from her successful acting career including her roles in the US show Suits, where she played Rachel Zane.

For her role she was reportedly paid a salary of £300,000.

She starred in more than 100 episodes and seven seasons.

Meghan also had smaller acting roles in popular shows like 90210, and was paid £149,000 for appearing in the film Remember Me according to Know Net Worth.

While it has never been disclosed how much Prince Harry received in inheritance from his mother, it is believed to be worth £10million.

The fund was put in place for both Harry and his brother William to inherit when they each reached their 30th birthdays.

The Duke is also said to have had an allowance from his father, Prince Charles, as well as being paid for serving in the Air Force.

Harry and Meghan signed a Spotify deal last year where they will produce and host their own podcasts through their production company, Archewell Audio.

The deal was said to be worth up to an eye-watering $25million (£18.2million).

What’s more, the couple also signed up to a deal with Netflix which is also thought to have added to their net worth.
