Kate Middleton: Lady Diana's piece of jewelry that she wears on the same date every year
As every year, Queen Elizabeth II hosted a grand reception last Wednesday in honor of the diplomatic corps. A banquet where Kate Middleton caused a sensation thanks to a very particular accessory.
Like a princess in her castle. Wednesday night at Buckingham Palace, all eyes were on one and the same person: Kate Middleton. Coming to attend the reception organized by Her Majesty, the Duchess appeared more elegant than ever. For the occasion, Prince William's wife opted for a long black velvet dress by Alexander McQueen. A dress that some English media have compared to the one worn by Lady Diana during her famous dance with John Travolta in 1985. Better yet, Kate Middleton also wore the favorite tiara of the unforgettable Princess of Wales. Called the "Lover's Knot tiara," this tiara made entirely of pearls and diamonds was given to her as a wedding gift. Since Louis' mother, Charlotte and George wear it every year on the same date. A nice tribute!
A FAMILY DIADEM
This sumptuous piece of jewelry was made in 1913 by British jeweler Garrard in honor of Queen Consort Mary of Teck. The latter was inspired by the tiara belonging to her own maternal grandmother, Princess Augusta of Hesse. But if the "Lover's Knot Tiara" was made famous, it was above all thanks to Lady Diana. In 1981, Diana Spencer received her as a gift following her marriage to Prince Charles. Very quickly, she becomes one of his favorites, even though she admits to having a hard time taking it. In fact, the halo is made up of nineteen diamond arches each topped by a pearl. A weight that does not seem to bother Kate Middleton.
