The most awkward and embarrassing moments of the awards ceremonies
No other business is supposed to be like show business. After all, it doesn't happen every day that some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry get together and celebrate each other's successes, does it? If there's one thing many celebrities have learned over time, it's that the show should go on, even when you've just experienced one of the most uncomfortable moments of your life.
Millions of us watch the awards shows each year as we team up with our favorite stars to see who wins an award. It seems that some stars got too caught up in the moment and forgot that the rest of the world was still staring at them. Have you forgotten your lines of text? Have you tripped and fallen? Do you fall apart under pressure? Yes, we have been able to witness all these awkward moments that they expected us to forget.
The presenters handed the award to the wrong movie
Actors and directors from around the world compete each year to make their appearance at the Academy Awards. After all, the belief is that an Oscar is one of the best awards in the industry. Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway were honored to present the award for Best Picture in 2017. The vote was done and “La La Land” was announced as the winning film.
The cast, crew and just about everyone took to the stage and made their speeches before the truth made an appearance. The organizers had given the wrong envelope. They whispered the truth to Jordan Horowitz, the film's producer, and it was he who had to announce: "Moonlight, you have won." It can be safely said that this was one of the most uncomfortable moments for everyone involved.
Brendon Fraser forgot to clap
"The Mummy", "Inkheart", "George of the Jungle", many of us know Brendan Fraser from many movies. Although this star has found himself both in and out of the limelight over the years, he made headlines back in 2010 for a strange reason. Brendan was one of the many celebrities who made it to the Golden Globe Awards ceremony.
The camera zoomed in just at the right time to capture Brendan in the middle ... Clap? If you can call it that. It seemed as if the actor had never learned to give a standing ovation, or that he had just completely forgotten how it is supposed to be done. His singular applause soon took over the Internet as an assault, because people couldn't believe that applause could be done so badly.
Johnny Depp got stuck during his speech
Of course, over the years, some stars have been to Hollywood parties in their fair share. Johnny Depp is no exception. He made it to the Hollywood Film Awards in 2014, in which Johnny was tasked with presenting a documentary called "Supermensch." This was supposed to be a reasonably straightforward role for the star, but it seemed as if Johnny had hung out at the bar for a while before going on stage.
That's how it is; the actor drank a lot and had no choice but to give a slurred speech from him. It all started when Johnny made a comment about “the weirdest microphone I've ever seen”, then from there it all started to go downhill. Fortunately, the actor was able to give the entire speech before leaving the stage.
Kanye stole thunder from Taylor Swift
Of course, one cannot talk about the most awkward moments of an awards show without mentioning the event that started an entire feud between Kanye and Taylor Swift. It was 2009 and the couple was at the MTV Music Video Awards gala. Taylor took the stage to collect her Best Female Video award for “You Belong With Me,” but Kanye was not at all impressed.
The musician had barely picked up the award when Kanye took the mic and started saying that he should have won Beyoncé. Taylor said he was very excited about the award up to that point, because she didn't know what to do anymore. The event was enough to see Kanye and Taylor star in one of the biggest fights ever seen in the music industry.
Jacqueline Bisset spent her welcome
It can be difficult to write an endorsement speech that stands out from the crowd. That's the way it is, unless you make one so uncomfortable to listen and watch that it makes you go down in show business history. Certainly, it seemed that Jacqueline Bisset knew well how to get her name to appear in the history books for the wrong reasons.
In 2014, she appeared at the Golden Globes to collect her award for Best Supporting Actress. Her speech started very slowly and she did not recover. Jacqueline was utterly silent for too long, before she began to ramble on about forgiveness and various other irrelevant points. Eventually, even the band started playing, trying to give the whole thing a boost, but nothing could get Jacqueline out of that microphone.
Natalie Portman called all male nominees
Oprah Winfrey swept the 2018 Golden Globes when she delivered her legendary speech. Many praised this star for using her speech to highlight some problems in the entertainment industry, prompting others to follow in Oprah's footsteps. Natalie Portman was one of many who wanted to join this movement.
She was invited to present the Best Director award with one other person, none other than director Ron Howard. Natalie took the opportunity to challenge the Hollywood men's club when she announced to the public that she was about to hear from "male nominees only." Ron had no idea how to react, so he laughed awkwardly. Although only a few could see what Natalie was trying to do, the act fell like a jug of cold water.
Ryan Seacrest plugged in his suit line
All of this happened at the 2019 Oscars ceremony, when the devoted red carpet show host Ryan Seacrest stepped onto the carpet once again to interview some of the biggest names from the awards ceremony. However, it seems as if the famous host is somewhat more concerned with his suit and what can be purchased from his Macy's product line.
Of course, there is nothing wrong with being proud of what you do, but people couldn't help but notice how many times Ryan mentioned this line. People turned to the internet to argue about how many plugs he made. Fortunately, most turned a blind eye to the presenter and his comments. This is what so many years in business do for you.
John Travolta got involved with the name
It's hard to beat John Travolta's iconic 2014 Oscars speech when it comes to remembering the most awkward moments. The actor broke all the rules because, to John, it seems that he must have forgotten the name of Idina De Menzel and decided to invent another in his place. The best thing would have been to practice it several times before going on stage.
That or for the Academy Awards ceremony, someone else could have been sought out to invite the actress on stage. Instead of using her real name for hers, John introduced her as "Adele Dazeem" by mistake. No one knew who was going up. Although the couple ended up laughing later, many of us have never forgotten that awkward moment that made us hide behind a cushion at home.
Leonardo DiCaprio's friend had no idea what to do
Some people have no idea how to react when their friend wins an award. Leonardo DiCaprio starred in "The Revenant," a film that ultimately earned him his first Oscar. However, Leonardo was already prepared to receive a Golden Globe and seemed delighted to know that he had won. The same happened to his friends. In fact, they got a little more excited about it.
Was it a punch with the fist? Was it a high five? We don't even now know the answer to this question. Although the moment lasted a few seconds, it seemed eternal. We are just happy to see that Leonardo's Oscar nomination was based on “The Revenant” and not on the horrifying show he gave at the Golden Globes.
Jennifer Lawrence stumbled before receiving a standing ovation
If there is one actress who is famous for her realistic vision of life, it is Jennifer Lawrence. Although she has been in some of the biggest movies and was once the highest paid actress in the world, Jennifer is not known for her grace. This came to a head for her in 2013, at which point she received an Oscar for best actress. As Jennifer walked onto the stage, she tripped and fell down the stairs.
The actress had to be forced up the stairs before she could finally reach the microphone. Fortunately, Jennifer laughed and was greeted with a standing ovation. During her speech, she Jennifer expressed that people were only standing because "I fell and you felt bad." Jen, we're sure it wasn't because of that!
Sofia Vergara standing on a pedestal
Over time, Sofia Vergara has appeared in a number of hit movies and TV shows and has even been named as one of the highest paid actresses in recent years. To top it off, Sofia is acclaimed for her looks. However, things turned a bit sinister during the 2014 Emmys. Bruce Rosenblum, the president of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, had the idea and made the decision to put Sofia on a pedestal.
Then the raised platform began to rotate so that everyone in the room could see the actress in 360 degrees. Yes, it really was something sinister, one of the most uncomfortable moments ever seen, and people at home were left wondering how this idea would have come to them.
Rami Malek fell off the stage
Rami Malek was the talk of Hollywood for playing the role of Freddie Mercury in the movie "Bohemian Rhapsody." He was set to receive a ton of Oscars from the 2019 Oscars ceremony and indeed the movie walked away with a lot of them under his arm. Although he was able to recreate Freddie's magic on stage in this film production, Rami couldn't finish perfecting that same grace in real life and starred in one of the most awkward moments in any show, which is falling off the stage.
The actor picked up the award from him and tried to run off the stage to celebrate with his co-star and girlfriend Lucy Boynton. That is until Rami fell to the ground. The paramedics quickly ran to Rami, because they all thought that the actor had suffered a major fall, but, fortunately, there was nothing to worry about other than his injured pride.
John Travolta almost gave the wrong person an award
Has it ever happened to you that you have one of those moments where you think you see someone you know and then realize that they are completely unknown and you want to run away to hide? We're pretty sure John Travolta experienced the same thing back in 2019 at the MTV Music Video Awards. Surprisingly, he was trusted to appear at other awards shows, because John was asked to present the award to Taylor Swift and her video "You Need To Calm Down."
Jade Jolie was one of many on stage at the time, but she was definitely not Taylor. John thought the copycat, famous from a show with RuPaul, was the singer and almost mistakenly gave Jade the award. Was this John's last chance?
Adele broke her Grammy award
Adele just has to make an appearance for her every few years and release a new album, even so, she is at the top of the music world and is considered one of the best voices of our generation. This musician has already received a number of music awards during her career. However, the most memorable of all was possibly the Grammy award she received in 2017 for Album of the Year.
This is just one of the amazing 15 Adele has under her belt. Although Adele received the award, she thought it should have been Beyoncé who should have won for her album "Lemonade." What was Adele's response? She tore the award in half and gave half to the singer. Luckily, it was a fake trophy for the show, it wasn't the real prize.
Dakota Johnson's awkward interview with her mother
Dakota Johnson, she made her rise to fame when she starred in "50 Shades of Gray." Did you also know that she is the daughter of Melanie Griffith? It seems that stardom runs through her blood. This couple attended the Academy Awards in the year, which was the moment they were with an interviewer on the red carpet. They wanted to know if Melanie had seen the movie, famous for her racy scenes.
Melanie was quick to say that she had never seen her. The interviewer insisted that he should see her and even Dakota said that her mother might see her one day, yet Melanie was unfazed. The interview ended when Dakota yelled, “Very good! You don't have to see it, ”which left many embarrassed.
John Travolta took things too far
The Academy Awards bring out the biggest names in Hollywood every year. In 2015, a host of stars were spotted on the red carpet, including Scarlett Johansson. The actress was calmly posing for paparazzi photos when suddenly someone else joined the scene. It seems that John Travolta thought it was a good time to run and pose with the star.
By posing, we mean wrapping her arms around Scarlett and trying to kiss her on her cheek. The actress tried to keep her composure and cast a sideways glance at John. Unfortunately, John didn't seem to get the hint and followed the star. Watching him was one of the most awkward moments witnessed to date, but possibly not as awkward for everyone else as it was for Scarlett.
Reese Witherspoon may have made fun of Kim Kardashian
She was once known as America's Bride, but it seems Reese Witherspoon might not be as innocent as you had originally thought. Saying that is true if we take her 2011 speech from hers as an example. The actress went to collect her MTV Movie Award and give a speech that seemed to be directed at a famous family, or at least one of the members of that family.
The Kardashians are one of the most famous families in the world. However, Reese seems to be impressed by her fame less than anything. The star made statements about why young women don't need a reality show to make it big in Hollywood. Afterward, Reese went on to talk about how a personal tape would once have been somewhat embarrassing and not the beginning of a career. Wow.
Tiffany Haddish didn't know how to pronounce Camila Cabello
We already know that sometimes it can be difficult to remember everyone's names. After all, there are so many artists in the industry that they don't have to endure the added pressure of having to present awards. Tiffany Haddish was asked to present the 2018 Video Music Awards, which meant that she would need to introduce everyone who took the stage. It seems like Camila Cabello came out of nowhere and forged a place at the top of the music industry for herself.
Most of us have heard her name, but it seems like Tiffany hasn't. The presenter even heard Camila's name many times during the night, as the musician was nominated for no less than five awards. Unfortunately, Tiffany was still wrong with her words, but Camila seemed to take it all in stride.
Steve Harvey announced the wrong winner
It's not just about acting and music awards ceremonies have shown us some pretty awkward moments over the years. The Miss Universe pageant has also seen some pretty embarrassing performances. Steve Harvey was the host of the contest for the first time in 2015, and he had almost managed to finish the show. All he had to do was announce the winner and Steve could sign up for the event as a success.
Unfortunately, Harvey got a bit mixed up with the results and ended up announcing Miss Colombia as the winner. The problem? She was the first runner-up. Miss Colombia was crowned and she received the band from her before Steve realized the mistake. He had to recognize it, remove the crown from Miss Colombia and re-perform the ceremony for the winner who was Miss Philippines.
Tommy Wiseau was not allowed to speak
Back in 2018, James Franco took home the Golden Globe for Best Actor thanks to his performance in "The Disaster Artist." James even directed the film based on Tommy Wiseau and his journey to create the movie "The Room." Forget the redundancy, Tommy's success was widely criticized by critics. However, it turned out so bad that it quickly brought Tommy to fame and earned him a cult following.
James wanted Tommy to join him on stage to give the award, but it wasn't to give Tommy his moment in the limelight. In fact, when Tommy went to lean in to speak or tried to take the mic, James just pushed him to the side and grabbed the mic himself. Many people couldn't believe what they were seeing, another of the most awkward moments, though James didn't seem to mind.
Taylor Swift thought she had won the award
Being nominated for an award is far more stressful than many of us could ever appreciate. To begin with, there is always the pressure of not knowing if you are going to win or not. In addition, you also have to know that everyone is watching you and that you must act in the best possible way if you are not a winner. All that if you don't want to end up being the topic of conversation on the Internet.
Thanks to "Red", Taylor Swift was one of the few candidates for Album of the year. Actually, it was Daft Punk who took home the award, but their album also started with "r". That was enough for Taylor to think she was the winner, before realizing the truth. Of course, all of this was caught on camera.
Jennifer Lawrence improvised her speech
It may be hard to forget the 2013 Golden Globes thanks to Jennifer Lawrence's acceptance speech. The actress was quickly becoming one of the most esteemed names in the film industry. It seemed like her hard work had finally paid off when Jennifer took home an award that night. She started her speech with "I beat Meryl." Pretty innocent, right?
It seems that no. People wondered what Jennifer had against Meryl Streep, who was also up for the award. Jennifer later said that she had inspired her speech for the movie "The First Wives Club," in which she also uses that line. However, not everyone was convinced by this line and it was one of the most uncomfortable moments. Jennifer said there was a good reason why she shouldn't improvise her speeches, this was the reason. Fortunately, most have forgiven this star.
Michael Jackson was not nominated for an award
Well, it's not that awkward not to be nominated for an award, but how about giving a full acceptance speech for an award that doesn't even exist? That's what happened in 2002. The VMA Awards were in full swing when Britney Spears took the stage. The singer began to give a speech about how Michael Jackson had been for her hers "artist of the millennium" hers.
This is great, but Michael thought she was submitting it for an award, you know, the Artist of the Millennium award. Michael went to thank her for her speech, but that's not the worst of it. The speech was supposed to be a special birthday greeting for Michael Jackson. Nobody wanted to stop it when it was released, so Britney just stood there watching another of the most awkward moments seen at an awards show.
Adrien Brody surprised Halle Berry
The year 2003 marked a great year for Adrien Brody. Aside from starring in Roman Polanski's "The Pianist," he was also nominated for Best Actor at the Academy Awards. At the time, Adrien was only 29 years old and became the youngest person to win the Oscar, a title he has held ever since. It seemed as if Adrien couldn't keep the emotion to himself.
When he took the stage to give his speech, Adrien grabbed Halle Berry, who was presenting the ceremony, and gave her a very long, impromptu kiss. Adrien seemed pleased with himself when he mentioned that no one told Halle that she was going to be part of the "prize bag."
Kristen Stewart broke her award
"Twilight" was once everywhere we looked. People even chose her team, Edward or Jacob, and took the stars of those movies to the highest levels of fame. It's no surprise that the cast came to the 2009 MTV Movie Awards to collect one of their many awards. Unfortunately, Kristen looked a little more like her character, Bella, than most of us thought.
The actress ended up dropping her golden popcorn award. To make matters worse, the award was broken and Kristen had to stand there holding her broken award for the rest of the speech. She made a comment about the accident, saying that she was "as uncomfortable as you thought she was going to be", before disappearing from the stage. This time she was aware of having starred in another of the most uncomfortable moments of the awards galas.
Katy Perry fell more than once
Some of our favorite musicians have evolved and changed a lot over the years. Although Katy Perry's musical style has adapted over the years, the singer has always been known for her sweet and cheerful personality. Many of her videos are enough to give us a toothache, and it seems that her performance at the MTV Latin American Awards in 2008 was no different.
Katy was still early in her career and when she came to sing “I Kissed a Girl,” for some reason, she thought it would be a great idea to jump into a giant cake covered in frosting. The result? It turned out to be a very slippery mess when all that frosting knocked Katy to the ground multiple times during the rest of her performance.
Offset and Cardi B shared some excessive public displays of affection
Over the years, there have been a lot of powerful pairs of musicians. Could it be Offset and Cardi B next? Possibly not. His public distancing is proof of this. They have been and gone multiple times over the years and it seemed like this duo had finally left it. That was until for the 2019 Grammys the couple came hand in hand.
As if showing up together wasn't a good clue that they were together again, the couple continued to pose for as many public displays of affection as they could at the ceremony. To top it off, Cardi B took her husband on stage with her when he went to collect her award, a move that was widely criticized.
Lil Mama took the stage uninvited
There was a time when "Empire State of Mind" was one of the most important songs in the world. It seemed to sound almost everywhere we went while Alicia Keys and Jay-Z were enjoying the success of their song. They went to the 2009 VMAs, where they performed their hit song in front of thousands of thunderous fans. That is until near the end of the song, when someone else seemed to join them on stage.
Lil Mama appeared out of nowhere to pose with the duo. What is the best? No one had invited her to come on stage. Apparently Lil Mama got excited getting caught up in the moment and she thought her thing would be to join in the celebrations. Jay-Z was nothing short of impressed and later stated that he thought Lil Mama was "out of line."
Jennifer Lopez almost fell unconscious herself
Some of the showbiz choices are somewhat questionable. How about Jennifer Lopez's performance at the 2009 American Music Awards? One from that list. J.Lo took the stage to perform her latest hit of the moment "Louboutins", but it seemed to us as if someone thought she needed some changes. It's the only reason we can think of anyone thinking it was a great idea to do a performance with boxing as the central theme.
Even announcer Michael Buffer was the master of ceremonies who opened the performance. All the backing dancers formed a set of human steps so that J.Lo could climb to the top. The singer made the decision to jump from the top to end up landing on her butt. When she jumped back, some thought J.Lo may have been seriously injured.
Leonardo DiCaprio made a face at Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga is a star of music and also of acting. Gaga's performance in "American Horror Story: Hotel" won her home a Golden Globe. However, it wasn't her speech that got people arguing. Actually, it was her walking onto the stage. When Gaga passed Leonardo DiCaprio through the crowd, it appears that the actor made a face at her.
The moment did not go unnoticed by the fans of the awards who were quick to wonder about what happened. Many thought it was Leonardo's contempt for Gaga and did not want her to touch him. The actor came forward and denied those claims. At the scene, Leonardo said that he had no idea what her hand had touched him and that he reacted on instinct. Apparently it was nothing personal.
Nicki Minaj referred to Miley Cyrus in her speech
Wow, Nicki Minaj. Her sparkling wigs and her catchy tunes aren't the only things this star is known for. Nicki is also quite sincere and does not hold back when it comes to expressing her opinions. Although some people love that the singer is so open, others have not taken it too well over the years.
Miley Cyrus once spoke about Nicki in an interview in which she said that Nicki was not "too nice". That was it. Nicki arrived to collect her award for best Hip-Hop video at the 2015 Video Music Awards when she thought she would give the singer a wake-up call. There is no better time to mark your territory, right? Nicki looked at the camera as she asked, "Miley, what's good?", Addressing the unsuspecting crowd.
Madonna stumbled
There's a good reason Edna Mode asked for no layers. Unfortunately, Madonna didn't find out about her when she arrived at the Brit Awards in 2015, she ready to take the stage by surprise of her wearing her giant cape. The singer was dancing and singing along with the rest of her dancers when something terrible happened to her.
One of her dancers was supposed to drop her cape before Madonna reached the top of the stairs. Unfortunately, they skipped this step. It seems that Madonna did too. The dancers tugged at the cape for the big reveal only to find that she was still attached. In the end, the singer ended up flying backwards down the stairs along with her outfit. Really, another of the most uncomfortable moments that happened in an awards gala. Whoops.
Angelina Jolie kissed her brother
The red carpet is usually the place where all kinds of incredible moments happen. Typically these moments come in the form of celebrity outfits and the amazing dresses they wear at night. However, everyone else had other reasons to calm down and witness the turn of the century, thanks to Angelina Jolie and her brother. The Academy Awards gave Angelina the opportunity to show her love for her brother.
While the couple were posing for photos on the red carpet, they leaned in and gave each other a big kiss. That was all before Angelina took the stage to accept her Oscar and tell the world that she was "in love with her brother right now" during her award acceptance speech.
Someone decided to join David Niven
We have to travel back to 1974 to remember that day when an unexpected person joined David Niven on stage. This remains one of the most awkward and memorable moments in the history of the awards show, as well as being a moment this now-deceased actor may never forget. David co-hosted the Academy Awards that night and took the stage to introduce Elizabeth Taylor.
He was almost done giving his speech when someone appeared from the back of the stage. What was the man's outfit? Nothing but his birthday I brought her. The audience was as shocked as everyone else and started laughing. Without missing a beat, David commented that the only laughs that man would receive would be for “showing his flaws” in him. That had to hurt.
Aubrey Plaza tried to steal Will Ferrell's award
Back in 2013, the world witnessed one of the most awkward moments at an awards ceremony. Will Ferrell took the stage to collect his Comedic Genius award, his speech and was in full swing when someone else joined him. Aubrey Plaza, well known for her portrayal of her in the comedy "Parks and Recreation" suddenly approached Will and tried to steal the award from him.
The comedian decided to try to make it look like everything had been planned, but Will was just as confused as everyone else. People quickly realized that no one knew what was going on. Apparently Aubrey had been drinking too much and even dropped her glass as she was about to return to her seat. Truly, one of the most awkward moments at an awards show. Later, the actress was expelled from the place.
Chrissy Teigen and her tearful face
Let's be honest; It can be difficult to hold back the tears when our loved ones finally reach the top and show their talents. Chrissy Teigen is one of those gifts that they keep giving. One of the most memorable moments of this star was in 2015, when Chrissy arrived with her husband, John Legend, at the Golden Globes.
John took the stage for her performance while Chrissy wept delicately in the audience. At least that's what she thought she was doing. The camera caught the exact moment that her Chrissy seemed to be more as if she had just caught an unpleasant smell than as if she was proud of her husband.
Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper got too close
"A Star Is Born" was the talk of the place for months. As well as becoming one of the biggest movies of 2018, it also had an impressive soundtrack that topped many charts around the world. One of the things that makes her so great is the chemistry that arose between Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper on screen. On the Internet they soon thought that their relationship was much deeper.
After all, Gaga called off her engagement to Christian. Honey, therefore, she must be with Bradley, right? Her performances at the 2019 Oscars certainly convinced a lot of people of it. People thought they were being overly affectionate, especially because of Bradley's girlfriend, Irina. Shayk was in the audience. This may well be one of the most uncomfortable moments ever witnessed. To top it all, Irina and Bradley later broke up with their thing.
Katy Perry's wings almost made a mess
Ah, the Met Gala, also known as the last fashion show of the year. Every year, the best dressmakers in Hollywood can be seen gathering to show off her latest looks. It is better not to forget your invitation if you want to get through the door. Katy Perry was on the 2018 guest list for the “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination” event.
What better way to go to a show like this than sporting a pair of giant white angel wings? It seems this is what Katy thought. Unfortunately, it was less the grace of an angel and more the grace of someone wearing giant angel wings. Katy Perry spun around and nearly knocked her assistant out, forgetting how wide her wings were.
Naomi Watts tripped over Emma Stone's dress
It seems as if some people could do anything in the name of fashion, even if it means wearing pretty elaborate outfits to an awards gala. Surprisingly, Emma Stone seemed to do quite well wearing her tuxedo-inspired dress during the 2015 SAG Awards. The same cannot be said for Naomi Watts.
The long train of the dress joined the couple up on stage as they awaited their award for the film "Birdman (or the Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)." However, when everyone was getting into position, Naomi seemed to get a bit caught up in Emma's dress. The star almost fell flat on her face before the award was even in the room, but luckily she managed to save herself in time. One of the most awkward moments ever. The rest of the cast had no choice but to watch.
Bradley Cooper turned down Giuliana Rancic
The Oscars 2019 saw a new crowd of celebrities take to the red carpet, because they all hoped they could walk away with one of the prestigious awards. "A Star Is Born" was nominated for a whopping eight awards, but in the end it only won one thanks to what "Bohemian Rhapsody" liked, which was also competing for the award.
Bradley Cooper, the film's lead and director, stopped by to speak with Giuliana Rancic on the red carpet before the show. While the interviewer opened her heart by telling how the movie had helped her fall in love with her husband once again, Bradley didn't have much to say. In fact, Bradley was trying to look elsewhere before Giuliana before talking about hard work. Oh.
Joe Jonas came bundling her up
The Jonas Brothers have been by word of mouth since they gave us their first serenade back in 2005. In 2007, they were at the peak of their career, as they had thousands of fans who would do everything possible to be able to see the group. The American Music Awards were the perfect opportunity for them to show their talents.
The show began with the three of them standing behind three panes of glass, before they were smashed and Joe, Kevin and Nick could then be seen. The result? Joe tripped over the panel and ended up landing on the broken glass. However, Joe continued to act him as a true professional. It's pretty clear to us that those all-white outfits and the broken glass were a bad idea.
Someone Joined Neil Patrick Harris
Some of us know how to deal with the unexpected. Fortunately, Neil Patrick Harris did know exactly what to do when he appeared at the 2013 Emmys. It takes a lot of work and a lot of practice to ensure that everything runs smoothly at awards ceremonies, but what happens when someone who's supposed to shouldn't it be there just on stage?
Neil Patrick Harris was busy speaking to the camera when someone appeared from behind the star. Who was he? Because I was there? It seemed that no one had a clue, besides, the guy had no choice but to lie to one side to clumsily get out of the camera plane. At home, that sure was strange to witness another of the most uncomfortable moments of the finery.
David Letterman confused Oprah and Uma Thurman
It seemed like David Letterman had landed the role of his life in 1995, which was when he presented the Academy Awards. It was only a few seconds before the show started to get out of hand. The presenter started to tell a joke that he seems to have waited a long time to tell. The final punchline seemed to turn out as if no one knew what he was talking about.
David walked from one side of the stage to the other, apparently introducing Oprah and Uma Thurman among them, while he said nothing but their names. The "skit" ended with him asking if he had met Keanu. The audience laughed, but we're pretty sure it was because of the awkwardness of the situation.
Beyoncé's track that wouldn't stop playing
Although Beyoncé is now one of the biggest names in the music industry, she wasn't always like this. The singer made the leap to fame thanks to her passage through Destiny's Child. However, the year 2003 was the first in which Beyoncé worked alone. She came to the MTV Europe Music Awards to perform the song "Baby Boy."
Unfortunately, Beyoncé was about to learn that things don't always go according to plan. She got on stage with Sean Paul and they put on the song. So why was she listening to herself again? And again? And again? A technical failure made the choirs not stop repeating themselves. This was another of the most awkward and fun moments ever seen at an awards show. The confused Beyoncé did not know what to do, so she asked the audience how she was, before saying hello and leaving the stage.
Rashida Jones received a compliment for her "tan"
There are the awkward interviews on the red carpet, and then there are also the ones that steal the show's limelight. Unfortunately, Rashida Jones' interview at the 2015 SAG Awards came close to being considered one of the most embarrassing interviews many of us have ever witnessed. The actress made the leap to fame thanks to the series "Parks and Recreation" and she appeared at the awards ceremony along with other big names in Hollywood.
However, it was her interview on her red carpet that left many of us heartbroken, as it was undoubtedly one of the most uncomfortable moments seen at an awards ceremony. They congratulated the actress for her tan. What was the best? The best part is that Rashida is actually African American, as she is the daughter of Quincy Jones. Rashida simply replied, “you know… I'm ethnic”, which seemed enough to put the interviewer in her place for her outlandish comment.
Madonna had a strange tribute to do
Everyone stood still in 2018 when they heard the news that music legend Aretha Franklin had passed away. Aretha earned the title of Queen of Soul with hits like "Respect" and "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman." It seems that, days later, Madonna wanted to pay tribute to this fallen star at the VMAs, but it led to another of the most awkward moments of the awards shows.
That was until she opened her mouth. Madonna started talking about her personal journey and all the successes she has enjoyed. People immediately pointed out that Madonna had forgotten to mention Aretha or talk about her career, although that was the point. It seems that Madonna had no intention of talking about the late Queen of Soul.
Faith Hill was upset by Carrie Underwood's win
Whether you love country music or just shake your head a bit to the beat of “Nine to Five,” most of us know that the Country Music Awards are some of the most prominent in the genre. Which is to say that people from all over the country music world come together to celebrate each other's work. That is so, unless you are Faith Hill.
Faith was nominated for the same award as country legend Carrie Underwood. It was a very tight competition, but in the end the prize went to Carrie. Instead of being proud of her musician partner of hers, they surprised a rather disgruntled Faith in the crowd. One of the most awkward moments of an awards show, she raised her hands in the air and seemed to yell, "What?" just at the wrong time. Faith said the matter had been taken out of context, but the judgment had already been rendered.
Snow White and Rob Lowe teamed up for the unveiling
Although awards ceremonies can be seen as one of the greatest moments in popular culture at the time, they usually pass by and are forgotten as a few days go by. That is so, unless there is an awkward moment that catches people's attention. Back in 1989, Snow White and Rob Lowe managed to shape one of the most memorable opening scenes to ever grace an awards show.
For whatever reason, the Oscars thought it would be a great idea to have the host couple with a Disney impersonator for 11 minutes. It was a singular show that later continued to contribute… And contribute… And contribute. The audience did not sit well and was even despised by Disney, who sued the Academy Awards for using Snow White.
Jon Hamm crawled across the stage to collect his award
Sometimes we have to keep an eye on the prize if we are ever to achieve the dream. Jon Hamm was one of those who had to learn this the hard way. He was nominated for lead actor in a drama series at the Emmys seven times, but did not win the award either time. That is until lucky number eight made an appearance for him and Jon finally won the award.
He had waited so long for his opportunity to come… How would Jon celebrate it? It looked like he would do it by crawling. The actor decided to crawl all the way across the stage, even to the microphone to collect the Emmy award from him. Even Jon later confessed that he was "mortified" by all this.
James Franco and Anne Hathaway present the Oscars
Presenting the Oscars is something very important to many stars and something that some of us would spend our lives looking for. Unfortunately, we found that James Franco and Anne Hathaway were less than thrilled to be at the awards ceremony. The couple were invited to present the Academy Awards in 2011, but everything turned out to be a disaster.
The couple lacked the chemistry needed to help the night flow. James was thought to have been half asleep throughout the ceremony, which was why most of the jokes were some of the most awkward moments to witness at an awards show. Anne also stated that she, at first, she refused to participate in the event. Although she later changed her mind, Anne admitted that "the first intuition is usually correct."
Nicole Kidman's strange applause
There are some moments in our lives when we have to stop and wonder if we are on the same planet. This was one of those most awkward moments in the awards show. Thanks to her acting career, Nicole Kidman is a big name in Hollywood. She is also married to a country legend, Kieth Urban, which means that Nicole has rubbed shoulders with some of the biggest names in the business over the years.
However, this is not to say that Nicole always keeps in mind that she is being recorded, or maybe she doesn't mind clapping strangely compared to others? We don't know if she was trying to protect her nails from her or if she wanted to stretch her fingers, but it wasn't long before the internet detected her strange movement.
