Celebs are speaking out! Over the years, stars like Bella Thorne, Madison Beer, Vanessa Hudgens, Noah Centineo, Calum Hood and more have found themselves involved in a nude photo scandal online. While some stars shared their own personal pictures via social media, others were leaked without their consent. These celebs have all spoken out about their past experiences and shared what they learned from the incident.
In December 2020, some fans were quick to call out Charli D’Amelio after a photo that appeared to be the TikTok star without a bikini top on surfaced online. The influencer has since set the record straight and slammed the “110% fake” photo floating around the internet.
“So everyone kept talking about, ‘did you see that photo of Charli? Did you see that photo of Charli?’ And I was like, ‘what are you guys talking about?’ I was so confused, so I went on Twitter,” Charli said during the December 3, 2020 episode of her “2 Chix” podcast. “Someone took a screenshot of a TikTok of min e, from I don’t even know how long ago … And I was wearing a swimsuit. And they photoshopped my swimsuit top off. And tried to expose me with it, as if the original video is not still posted on my account. All of the people that follow me were like ‘yeah that’s 110% fake.’ But people believe it!”
She continued, “Anyway, don’t believe everything you see on the internet. I was not going to address this because it’s just stupid, but I felt like it was important to get that out there. So if you see something of me, it was not me.”

Vanessa Hudgens
Just after she became known to the world as Gabriella from High School Musical, Vanessa found herself in a “traumatic” nude photo scandal. In 2007, the actress’ personal photos were published online after she was hacked.
“I want to apologize to my fans, whose support and trust means the world to me,” the actress said in a statement following the incident. “I am embarrassed over this situation and regret having ever taken these photos. I am thankful for the support of my family and friends.”
In January 2020, in an interview with Cosmopolitan UK, the actress opened up about how the incident affected her life.
“It was a really traumatizing thing for me. It’s really f–ked up that people feel like they are entitled enough to share something that personal with the world,” she said remembering the moment she was blamed for her personal photos being leaked. “As an actor, you completely lose all grip of your own privacy and it’s really sad. It feels like that shouldn’t be the case, but unfortunately if enough people are interested, they’re going to do everything they can to get to know as much about you as they can, which is flattering, I guess, but then people take it too far and end up divulging things that should be personal.”
Calum Hood
The 5 Seconds of Summer bassist was involved in a nude photo scandal in 2014. After a Snapchat video of him circulated online, he responded via Twitter.
“Least ya know what it looks like now,” he wrote. Then added, “I’m still just a teenage kid learning from mistakes.”
Madison Beer
Madison took to social media and penned a meaningful message to fans about her “traumatic” nude photo scandal in March 2020. When she was 14 years old, Madison alleged that a boy released “very private Snapchats” that she had sent him. The singer got real about the shame and “anxiety” she felt after suffe ring from this experience.
“I know there are some very significant things happening in the world right now that are very frightening so my intention with this message is not, in any way, to distract from them, but I do wanna talk today on International Women’s Day on the subject of shaming women,” Madison shared in a lengthy message posted on Twitter. “When I was around 14 and exploring my body and sexuality, I sent very private Snapchats of my body to a boy I really liked at the time.”
She continued, “I was distraught and ashamed. This was a traumatizing experience that has instilled intense trust issues in me, that I’m still working on to this day.”
The songstress then explained that she decided to share her story on International Women’s Day as a way to help young people “be kinder to yourselves” and to “free myself of this weight I carry.” Madison also claimed that this all came after she allegedly received phone calls saying the same boy from seven years ago had attempted, once again, to share another intimate video of her online.
Bella Thorne
In June 2019, Bella took to Twitter and released her own private photos after a man who hacked her account had threatened to share them.
“Yesterday, as you all know my s–t was hacked. For the last 24 hours, I have been threatened with my own nudes. I feel gross. I feel watched. I feel someone has taken something from me that I only wanted one special person to see,” she wrote alongside the pictures. “He has sent me multiple nude photos of other celebrities. He won’t stop with me or them he will just keep going. For too long I let a man take advantage of me over and over and I’m f–king sick of it. I’m putting this out because it’s MY DECISION NOW. YOU DON’T GET TO TAKE YET ANOTHER THING FROM ME. I can sleep tonight better knowing I took my power back. You can’t control my life. You never will.”
She continued, “Here’s the photos he’s been threatening me with. In other words, here’s my boobies. So here, f–k you. The last 24 hours I have been crying instead of celebrating my book while doing my book press. Oh yeah, the FBI will be at your house shortly, so watch your mother f–king back.”
Alissa Violet
In October 2019, the YouTuber posted a nude photo of herself on Instagram. Fans were quick to worry that the picture had been leaked by the social media star’s ex-boyfriend FaZe Banks. In a series of DMs she allegedly sent to a fan, the blonde beauty said that she actually posted the racy photos because a hacker was threatening to release them.
“It literally has nothing to do with [FaZe]. A hacker was threatening to leak it so I just posted it. All my tags are thinking it’s [FaZe] threatening to leak them which is not true.”
Her Instagram photo has since been deleted.
Noah Centineo
In August 2019, alleged nude photos of the To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before actor surfaced online. In an interview with The Cut from September 2019, Noah seemingly addressed the situation.
“I understand why you have to ask that question. I just hope you understand why I’m not gonna answer it,” he responded when the interviewer asked him about being the subject of the leak.
Justin Bieber
In August 2017, Variety reported that Selena Gomez‘s Instagram had been hacked and the hacker reposted nude photos of her ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber. The pictures were first released in the New York Daily News in 2015 after the then couple took a trip to Bora Bora. The singer then responded to the leak in an interview with Access Hollywood and said he felt “super violated.”
“Like, I feel like I can’t step outside and feel like I can go outside naked,” he said. “Like, you should feel comfortable in your own space … especially that far away.”
The Hollywood Reporter also reported that the time that Justin’s team sent a cease and desist letter to the New York Daily News and demanded that the photos were removed from the website.

In April 2019, the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina star denied rumors that his nudes were leaked online.
“I’m curious what these pictures are cause I’ve never seen them,” he tweeted.
Victoria Justice
The former Victorious actress was faced with a nude photo scandal in 2014. She took to Twitter and expressed her anger over the situation.
“Shortly after I tweeted about certain pics of me being fake, I was faced with a serious violation of privacy,” she wrote at the time. “There have always been fake photos of me on the Internet, but I will not be put in the position to defend myself as to what is real or what is fake.”
She continued, “I am angry at this massive invasion of privacy, and like the other women who are in this situation alongside of me, I am taking legal action to protect my rights.”
Her admission came a few days after she assured followers that the photos had been fake.
Lucy Hale
The Pretty Little Liars star’s nude photos were leaked and shared online in December 2016. She addressed the situation via Twitter.
“Well, I wasn’t going to comment on something so ridiculous, but since 2017 is gonna be all about speaking my truth … I’m going to say something,” she wrote. “Once again, a woman in the public eye was violated, stolen from and her private life and body were exposed for anyone to see. I will not apologize for living my life and having a personal life that is all mine.”

In 2017, the former Teen Wolf star had his personal pictures leaked. In an interview with Us Weekly, the actor addressed the situation.
“I don’t care. It puts less stress [on you] if you just brush it off,” he said. “I got a letter in the mail saying I’m a victim of a case of somebody who hacked iCloud. I think I had my identity taken. I think I’ve had it stolen.”
Chris Evans
The Captain America star found himself the victim of a naked picture scandal when he accidentally posted a nude to his Instagram Story in September 2020. Following the entire incident, the actor took to Twitter with an important message to fans. “Now that I have your attention … VOTE Nov 3rd!” he said, before acknowledging the situation on the Tamron Hall show days later.
“Look, it was a very interesting weekend, full of lessons learned,” he said on the show. “You know, things happen. It’s embarrassing but you gotta roll with the punches. I will say, I have some pretty fantastic fans who really came to my support. That was really, really nice.”
