Amal Clooney, the most fascinating person of 2014
Renowned journalist Barbara Walters places the British lawyer at the top of her list of the characters of the year for having married George Clooney
This has undoubtedly been Amal Clooney's year. In September, she married one of Hollywood's most sought-after bachelors; Her style inspired the luxurious Italian brand Ballin to create a bag with her name on it, and she is also a prestigious lawyer. She now adds to her list of the best moments of 2014 being the most fascinating person of 2014, according to the American presenter Barbara Walters.
As every year since 1993, the American journalist, with 53 years of experience, has made public her famous list of the "10 most fascinating people." What makes the expert human rights lawyer hold the same recognition that people such as Nelson Mandela, Bill Clinton, Mother Teresa, Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, Colin Powell, Michelle Obama, David Petraeus or Steve Jobs obtained in the past ? The answer is clear: marry Clooney. Or at least that is what the presenter considers, who also states that the actor's link "has been one of the greatest achievements in human history." The list was unveiled last Sunday in a special Walters program - last May the host retired from television - for the ABC network.
"Amal Alamuddin is the beautiful couple of George Clooney and you could say that she had the wedding of the year," said Walters. “She could have been the subject of much criticism and envy for her marriage, but surprisingly she was not. It may be because, like George Clooney, we find it impossible to resist perfectly. Or maybe because it's encouraging to think that no matter how long it takes us, the right person will arrive at some point. That is why she is for us the most fascinating person of 2014 ”, she concluded.
The presenter describes the actor's link as "one of the greatest achievements in history"
The special showed several clips from a 1995 interview Walters did with Clooney. In it the actor assured that he would never marry again: "I know that I will not marry again because I am not very good with that," said the interpreter at that time, who also came to bet with that same determination with Michelle Pfeiffer.
This year's complete list includes: Scarlett Johansson (the actress has been a mother), Neil Patrick Harris (actor of 'How I Met Your Mother' who also triumphs on Broadway), businessman David Koch; presenter Oprah Winfrey; Chelsea Handler, actress and writer; former football player Michael Strahan; PayPal co-founder Elon Musk; George R. R. Martin, writer of the saga A Song of Ice and Fire inspired by Game of Thrones, and singer Taylor Swift, who breaks records with her latest album 1989.
In 1974 Barbara Walters became the first female co-host of an American television show. Two years after her debut on The Today Show, she hosted the ABC News evening newscast. And she was also the first woman to do so. Since then she has worked in various news programs both in front of and behind the cameras. In 1997 she launched The View magazine, which came to an end in May of this year.
