Chrissy Teigen underwent an eyebrow transplant: what does the procedure consist of
Chrissy Teigen joined the fluffy and bushy eyebrow trend thanks to an eyebrow transplant procedure and showed her results to her followers.
Celebrities can always be trusted to discover a new aesthetic procedure to surprise us with, and Chrissy Teigen's policy has always been to be very honest with all of her social media followers to explain how she manages to look her best, according to her criterion.
John Legend's wife has spoken quite naturally about the liposuction she underwent in the armpit area and on her face to remove the fat from her cheeks or her decision to recently remove the silicone implants that she put in when she was still working as a swimsuit model.
Given that thick eyebrows have been the prevailing trend in the beauty world for years, it was a matter of time before a technique emerged that promised to achieve one like Cara Delevingne or Lily Collins and, of course, Chrissy has been a the first to dare to try it.
Chrissy Teigen has shown on Instagram the result of an intervention in which they extracted hair from the back of her head to implant them in her eyebrows and thus achieve a more populated appearance. At first glance, the result does not seem too natural, but Chrissy has clarified that this is only due to the pencil they used to draw the area where the grafts were to be placed.
"I never use makeup if I can help it, so I was very excited about this eyebrow transplant surgery," she explained to add that she knows that at first it seems crazy, but that she is delighted with this last touch-up she has undergone.
How in an eyebrow transplant
It turns out that eyebrow transplants aren't that grotesque or complicated. Instead, they have the same mechanics as a hair transplant: “The fine hairs on the back of the head are removed by a small linear scar or by small circles around the base of each individual hair follicle and then placed in small , very carefully, sites in the brow [area], ”explains Yael Halaas, a board-certified plastic surgeon based in New York City.
Eyebrow transplants are generally performed under local anesthesia, so nothing is felt during the procedure, according to information from WebMD.
After the procedure is complete, the area is left open and a scab begins to form around the newly transplanted follicles. These scabs are a normal part of the healing process and fall off after a few days.
After the initial implantation, the newly placed hair will fall out. This is normal. Hair growth in the area should begin around 3 months after surgery. If some of the grafts do not “stick” or the hair is not as dense as it should be, a touch-up may need to be done nine months after surgery. This will depend on each case.
