Travis Barker was able to get Kourtney Kardashian to believe in marriage after the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star suffered through a few heartbreaks with Scott Disick and others. Travis was the first person to get Kourtney to say yes to a proposal following many failed attempts from Scott. Kourtney and Travis found love after years of being friends. The Poosh founder might've been looking for love in the wrong places all these years without realizing her true love was right in front of her.
Despite being the oldest Kardashian-Jenner sister, Kourtney took longer than her two younger sisters to get married. Kim Kardashian is going through her third divorce, while Khloe Kardashian has also gotten divorced. During the decade of Kourtney trying to make things work with Scott, they welcomed three children together. However, it just wasn't enough for him to stop cheating. After their 2015 breakup, they remained close friends and great co-parents. However, they never got back together. After dating model Younes Bendjima for two years and being single for three years, Kourtney pursued a relationship with her longtime friend Travis.
Now that Kourtney and Travis are engaged, fans are noticing all the ways the Blink-182 drummer was able to change her views on marriage. Sources teased how excited Kourtney is about marrying the rock star and starting their own family together. "Kourtney is of course ecstatic," a source told People. "She can't wait to marry Travis. She would also love to have a baby with him." It'll be the dream wedding Kourtney always wanted, according to these reports. Over the course of her nine-year relationship with Scott, the young couple toyed around with the idea of getting married. A 2011 clip from Kourtney & Kim Take New York (included below) even showed Scott thinking about proposing to her. "If things are so good now, and we've finally come to this place, why would we want to change that?" Kourtney told Scott. "Why mess it up?"
This was one of many times when Kourtney showed reluctance to get married and turned down Scott's advances. During a 2012 appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show, Kourtney admitted that seeing her parents get divorced negatively impacted her views on marriage. "I think it definitely affected my relationship today," she said of her relationship with Scott at the time. "I don't know, maybe I'm kind of scared of marriage because of that," she admitted. In 2017, Scott revealed that he actually proposed to Kourtney during a family vacation with their kids and apparently they both decided it wasn't something they were ready for. "We just got scared about like, media and this and that," Scott told Kim. "And we were like, 'Let's just put the ring aside and we'll talk about it another day.' Never spoke about it again."
Kourtney seemed more open to the idea of marriage by March 2020, but she still didn't really see it for herself at the time. "I think if it was the right situation, I think it's something that I would want," she revealed on E!'s In The Room. Nonetheless, Kourtney fell in love with Travis a few months later and fueled engagement rumors. It is now clear that Kourtney took her time to find the right man for her to settle down. Overall, the other Keeping Up With The Kardashians sisters could probably take some notes from their older sister. Good thing Travis came around and changed Kourtney's views on marriage.
