Zayn Malik hates being called a celebrity
Although his name is already known as a former member of the biggest boy band in the world, One Direction, Zayn Malik really hates other people who call him a celebrity. In an interview with High Snobiety magazine, Zayn said that he can see the rotten things that come from fame and the impasse in order to be careful not to fall into the trap of stardom (celebrity).
Reported by Contactmusic, Friday (30/9/2016), "I hate the word celebrity," said Zayn. According to him, that's the dangerous part when you think of yourself as a celebrity, because you somehow automatically think you're going to be superior to everyone else. Zayn also talked about how One Direction fans were hysterical when he decided to quit Simon Cowell's group last year. "I don't think you can prepare anything for something like that," he said.
The huge media reaction to news of him leaving One Direction caught Zayn's attention, "but I don't know how the fans will react," he said. That's why he hates it when other people refer to him as a celebrity, because to him it only bothers them if they know your name.
According to Zayn, being a celebrity is a responsibility and he doesn't want to do it because there are too many things to consider. "I do not do anything. It's a lot of pressure and I never claim to be a role model, I just make music."
