Ashley Judd denounces the “everyday sexismmmm” suffered by women
The actress says that an airport employee addressed her as "sweetheart", praised her dress and touched her - without specifying where - something that he did not do with the rest of the passengers
Actress Ashley Judd, 49, has posted a video on her Facebook page about the latest sexist event she has experienced with an airport security employee who interacted with her in a way that the actress called inappropriate. The interpreter recounts how the worker addressed her as "sweetheart" and praised her dress, something that the actress denounced that she did not do with the rest of the passengers. "I was in control and the man told me: 'Hey darling,' and I said, 'I'm not your darling, I'm your client.' And when he was putting my things on the control he said 'hey, nice dress'. I didn't hear him say anything about the attire of any of the other people who were there and I'm in one of the busiest airports in the world. I am surrounded by many people and each one is dressed in a different way ”, she has detailed.
The actress also adds that this same man touched her, although she does not specify where. "While I was talking to one of his classmates he said 'do you have high heels?' And then guess what happened next. He touched me. And I didn't see him touch anyone else. I turned around and said, "This was unnecessary," her account continues.
For the interpreter of The Lovers Collector, it is important to denounce this type of thing that she herself classifies as "everyday sexism" because society is used to these comments that are really sexist, because it is always the woman who receives them. “This is the kind of thing that happens that I classify as everyday sexism. And it's so easy to let it go and not talk about it, especially when you make excuses in the "I was just being polite", she has also explained in the video that she has shared with more than 300,000 followers of her.
Judd assured in her message that she did not want to be controversial, but she was very upset with the situation and she wanted to report it in some way, even with a video. In addition to broadcasting it through this social network, the Divergente interpreter also went to the employee's manager and explained what happened. According to the actress, he assured her that the workers know that they can only treat passengers as "sir" and "ma'am" and much less should they touch anyone, for which he apologized to the actress.
In addition to her long career in the film industry, the actress is known for her strong activism in defense of women's rights, human rights, social justice and sexual freedom. In fact, she has collaborated in different campaigns against AIDS and last year she was appointed a new Goodwill Ambassador for UNFPA (United Nations Population Fund).
