Solana (SOL) blockchain does not want to be associated with Melania Trump's NFTs project
To read between the lines, Solana Labs would have done well without this "advertisement". Melania Trump, former First Lady of the United States, wants to launch a non-fungible token (NFT) project on the Solana (SOL) blockchain. However, a representative of the latter specifies that this initiative is personal and that Trump was not invited by the team.
An NFT project by Melania Trump on the Solana blockchain (SOL)
Since her husband left the White House last January, some could legitimately wonder what Melania Trump was doing. The beginning of a response has just been revealed.
The former first lady of the United States has indeed launched her own collection of NFTs, entitled "Melania's Vision". The work was created by Frenchman Marc-Antoine Coulon and is a painting of the gaze of Melania Trump.
NFTs are available on Trump's website until December 31. They are sold at a price of 1 SOL per unit, or around 155 euros at the time of this writing.
Melania Trump's NFT Project, Not to Solana Labs' Taste (SOL)
While the information may make some people smile and leave the majority indifferent, Solana Labs is not, on the other hand, really a fan of this initiative. Indeed, the benefit of a public and non-discriminatory blockchain is that anyone can build their project there.
In other words, the founders and leaders of Solana have no say in the projects built on their blockchain and their promoters. This is also what an anonymous representative of Solana Labs wanted to remind the specialized media, Decrypt.
More NFT plans for Melania Trump
According to Melania Trump, her NFT collection is powered by Talk, a social network popular with supporters of her husband. An unspecified portion of NFT revenues will be donated to an association helping desocialized children.
Despite the reluctance of the Solana Labs team, Melania Trump does not seem to want to stop there. Indeed, the former first lady wishes to put on sale a new collection of NFT in the future. On January 11, she will also be leading auctions that include both digital and physical art.
No information has yet been filtered on the blockchain that will be used by Trump for this future collection. No one doubts that Solana Labs could this time take the lead to prevent its blockchain from being used again.
Excited for this new venture, which combines my passion for art and commitment to helping our Nation’s children fulfill their own unique American Dream. #MelaniaNFT https://t.co/XJN18tMllg pic.twitter.com/wMpmDDsQdp

However, does the team really have the power to prevent the use of blockchain? Above all, is it desirable to censor a project on the pretext that we do not like its author? It is a long debate that we will not begin in this article.
