Why doesn't Julianne Moore take it as a compliment to be told that she "ages gracefully"
The actress assures that there are myths around age that should collapse and that affect women more.
Julianne Moore spoke a few words to those who tell her that she "ages gracefully," and she explained why she is not a compliment and they shouldn't tell any woman.
“It is an expression that contains an inherent judgment. Can you grow old without grace? We have no choice, of course. Nobody has a choice when it comes to getting old, it just happens, so it can't be positive or negative, ”she pointed out.
She said women are often judged by how old they are. They assume that because you are over 40 or 50 you must behave in a certain way, dress in a certain way, when in reality you and only you are the one who can decide what you want to do with your life.
“It's part of the human condition, why is aging always talked about as if it were something we had control over? How do we evolve? How do we navigate through life to have deep experiences? That's what birthday should mean, ”she pointed out.
Although aging is part of life, many see a woman's gray hair or her wrinkles as an offense, and they tell her that she must cover them, that she must have surgery, there is a myth about eternal youth that is totally unnatural.

At 60, Julianne Moore is an established actress, who has not needed to resort to looking younger to land deep and interesting roles.
One of her latest achievements was playing the leading lady in "Still Alice," a woman who is diagnosed with Alzheimer's at an early age. Her powerful acting work earned her the Oscar for Best Actress in 2015.
In that season, she swept all the awards, including Golden Globes, Critic's Choice and BAFTA… And she did it all by looking exactly how old she is.
"It seems so silly to speak of it as something negative when it is a privilege to keep getting older," she stressed, saying something obvious that most seem to forget: the alternative to getting old is to die young.
