Britney Spears' father lashes out against the #FreeBritney movement
Jamie Spears breaks the silence and attacks fans worried about the singer's fate. Yet despite her parent claiming to do only good for her daughter, her brothers and sisters seem to think differently of her. And the family feud continues ...
In recent weeks, the #FreeBritney movement has intensified a lot, or a series of protests - both virtual and physical - involving fans of pop star Britney Spears, worried that their darling is being held hostage by their father, Jamie Spears. Since 2008, the man has absolute control over his daughter's activities, in accordance with the statute of the conservatorship *, * a kind of legal protection that reduces the personal freedoms of an individual for his more general protection. Fans, however, are convinced that Britney Spears can get by on her own and that her parent is using her for their own gain. After a recent hearing on the renewal of the conservatorship failed (also due to the infiltration of fans in the Zoom call through which it was held), the controversy flared up again, but this time it was Jamie Spears himself who answered.
Through an interview with Page Six, the man sent back to the sender the portrait he has made of him in recent years: "All these conspiracy theorists know nothing, the world has no conception", he declared: " It's up to a California jury to decide what's best for my daughter. It doesn't have to be anyone else's business ”. Spears also defended himself against accusations of being a ruthless profiteer who has stolen money and property from her daughter over the years: “I bring every single penny back to court, every year. How could I have stolen anything? I love my daughter, I love all my children. But that's our business. It is a private matter ”. And with respect to the behavior of the fans: “There are people who have been stalked by them and targeted with death threats. It's horrible, we don't want fans like that. "
The statements of the parent are added to those of other relatives of the singer, who have cast doubt on the nature of this legal protection. "It's a very frustrating thing," said Bryan Spears, the brother, last July, reporting that he wanted Britney to get out of the conservatorship because in effect her father controls "every decision she makes", from business to health and married life. Sister Jamie Lynn Spears shares the same opinion: "Whether you do it with good intentions or with another spirit, having someone constantly telling you what to do must be very frustrating." Despite her father's defenses, it is obvious that the question of Britney Spears' future remains ambiguous and contradictory, with the singer at the center of a feud that does not seem to know half measures.
