Melania Trump Auctions Personal Items and Flops
Melania Trump auctioned one of her hats in three different forms at the beginning of January. In the end, the set did not reach the starting price which was set at 1,800 Solana tokens, a sum in cryptocurrency which was worth 250,000 dollars at the time. The virtual auction launched by Melania Trump at the beginning of January did not ultimately generate the expected sums, reports CNN on Wednesday January 26, 2022. The triptych put up for sale by the former American First Lady – composed of a large hat white worn during Emmanuel Macron's visit to the White House, a watercolor painting of her wearing this hat and an NFT (non-fungible token) of this illustration – has indeed not received bid approaching the starting price.
This had been set at 250,000 dollars, payable only in Solana cryptocurrency, for an equivalent which had at the time been set at 1,800 Solana tokens. If five auctions have indeed been formulated, the cryptocurrency has for its part lost 40% of its value during the last two weeks, in a global context of devaluation of virtual currencies.
Other Trump NFTs put up for sale
The triptych, named "Head of State Collection", was eventually sold for around $170,000. While this auction was part of Melania Trump's desire to enter the non-fungible token market, part of the amount raised was also intended to be donated to an association providing educational programs focused on information and technology to foster children.
However, Trump's office did not wish to communicate on the exact share of the sum intended for the donation. Note that last December, Melania Trump had offered for sale several NFTs of Melania's Vision, a watercolor by Marc-Antoine Coulon representing her eyes, for a price of 150 dollars each.
