Jessica Lange was born on April 20, 1949 in Cloquet, Minnesota. Daughter of a salesman of German and Dutch origins and a housewife of Finnish origins, her childhood was punctuated by numerous moves. A taste for travel that never left her: following her photography studies, she set off on a long journey with her first husband, Paco Grande, to Mexico and then to France.
Having become a model, she returned to the United States in 1973 and became a star there in 1976 for her film role in the remake of King Kong, for which she won the Golden Globe for best female hope. Thus begins the destiny of the one who will undoubtedly become one of the greatest American actresses of her generation.
In 1982, she received the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for Tootsie, a playful comedy and huge public success in which she played the role of Dustin Hoffman. She collected three other Oscar nominations, before winning the Oscar for best actress in 1995 for the film Blue Sky. In the meantime, she played in The Harvests of Anger in 1984, then in Music Box, directed by Costa-Gavras, in 1989.
