'Euphoria': Sydney Sweeney Reveals Why She Was So Nervous Filming the 'Oklahoma' Dress Scene
Euphoria Season 2 Episode 3 has generated rave reviews for yet another week. Apart from the unleashing of the formal muscle of Sam Levinson, director and creator of the series, with myriads of visual resources and camera movements per minute, the HBO teen series has gotten into increasingly darker terrain without abandoning its particular glossy touch.
In addition to that beautiful (and ultimately heartbreaking) prologue that brings a very different perspective than we're used to on Cal Jacobs, Nate's father, by taking us back to his youth, another sequence in this episode of Euphoria aspires to be one of the most remembered of the series. And in this case it is a pure comedy scene, which allows us to see a large part of the female cast of the series interacting with each other.
The scene
We refer to the scene that takes place in the bathroom of the institute, when Cassie (Sydney Sweeney) appears with the most ostentatious and tight dress that she has ever worn in her self-destructive routine of putting on, putting on makeup and dressing in an impressive way for Nate ( Jacob Elodi), with whom she has a secret affair. Cassiie wears her hair styled with impossible volume, an ultra-short baby blue dress and a plaid shirt knotted over a very revealing neckline.
Seeing her dressed like this, Rue (Zendaya) asks her if she's going to audition for the play she's preparing for her sister Cassie (Maude Apatow). Since the latter hasn't told her anything about her alternative play, she disguises herself by pointing out that the theater group is preparing a performance of Oklahoma, the Broadway musical from the 1940s.
"Oh my God, does it look like I'm in Oklahoma?" asks a worried Cassie. To complicate things even further, Maddy (Alexa Demie) and Kat (Barbie Ferreira) arrive, adding to the confusion about the musical Oklahoma and confirming that Cassie is dressed "like a country singer." Then we see the student break out in hysterics in a loud confession of her secret relationship with Nate, behind the back of her ex Maddy.
However, the latter has only happened in her imagination as she gazed in dismay at herself in the mirror.

The Sydney Sweeney Reveal
According to Sydney Sweeney in Decider, the bathroom sequence with the Oklahoma dress was the first one they shot in the new season of the series. An important reunion for the entire team, since the last episode of the previous season of Euphoria aired in 2019.
"The craziest thing of all is that it was the first scene we shot of season two. I had to narrow down how far I took it, since it belongs in the third episode; now we're halfway through Cassie's [her story arc of this season] meltdown. season], so I had to gauge exactly how I got there and how I was going to continue," explains Sweeney.
"I had to make sure I found the right tone for Cassie," continues the actress, who was a bit unsure of her outfit. "She was really nervous because it's the first day back at work and the dress was just... [laughs] The thing that killed me was the hairdo. How huge it was."
Once the nerves had passed, Sweeney was able to pull off one of her funniest performances of the entire series, which coupled with her hiding in the bathtub at the party in the first episode makes bathrooms magnets for iconic moments. for Cassie. Never pleasant though, unless Nate is involved.
