The Victorian tale of two shipwrecked boys growing up alone on a tropical island was overshadowed on the big screen by scenes of the nearly n@ked characters falling in love.

The new release marks the first time the film has been available on Blu-ray in the UK. It also includes commentary from Shields, Atkins, and director Randall Kleiser.
Despite the restrictive R rating given to it, the film was unsurprisingly a huge box office success, grossing more than twelve times its modest $4.5 million budget.
The film not only made headlines when it was released, it led to a government investigation and Shields was called to testify before the United States Congress.
