Why did Minka Kelly refuse to NKD herself in 'Euphoria'?
‘Euphoria’ is one of the biggest shows currently airing on HBO, and it’s known for its steamy scenes, but despite knowing this, Minka Kelly raised her concerns regarding baring herself in the show.
When she was approached for the role of Samantha in the show, she was given a vague description of the character as Sam Levinson, the showrunner, director, and writer of the show was in the process of rewriting some of the dialogue in the pool scene. She told Vanity Fair:
That can be frustrating and can throw some people off, but I actually trust and feel safe with a director who’s not afraid to change his mind. At the end of the day, the goal is what ends up on-screen. We’re all here to facilitate his vision.
Though she didn’t mind having him change the script, she did have an issue with a specific scene he added:
[Levinson] thought it would be more interesting if my dress fell to the ground. That was my first day as a guest on this new show, and I just didn’t feel comfortable standing there nkd. I said, ‘I’d love to do this scene, but I think we can keep my dress on.' He was like, ‘OK!’ He didn’t even hesitate. And he shot a beautiful scene and got exactly what he wanted.
