Michelle Obama has revealed what was the gift offered by Melania Trump during the transfer of power: it is a photo frame.
On January 20, 2017, this little moment had given rise to a smile: Michelle Obama embarrassed, holding the gift brought by Melania Trump. The latter, who would succeed him as First Lady, had indeed come with a box from the Tiffany & Co brand, which the wife of the 44th president had not known what to do with. She referred to that moment in an interview with Ellen DeGeneres, which will air in its entirety on Thursday: "There's a whole protocol, it's like a state visit: you're told what to do, where. you have to position yourself. But never was it planned to receive a gift, so I wondered: “But what should I do with this gift?”, recalled Michelle Obama, commenting on the images broadcast at the screen.
“Everyone walked away and no one came to take the box, I wondered if we were going to take the picture with it, until my husband saved my day by taking the box and dropping it off at inside. But everyone walked away, there was no employee, no one. And I was there, not knowing what to do with the box. This surprise gift was, Michelle Obama revealed, “a lovely setting.”

At the time, Michelle Obama's state of mind was noticeable and was the subject of many reactions on social networks, in particular the sharing of a screenshot showing the embarrassed face of the First Lady. Before this passing of the torch, the two women had already seen each other on November 10, 2016, the day after the election of Donald Trump. While their respective husbands chatted in the Oval Office, they discussed several topics, including how to "raise children in the White House, since the First Lady's two daughters spent much of their childhood in the White House and Mrs. Trump's son will also spend important years of his childhood here at the White House," said White House spokesman Josh Earnest. "It's been a pretty unique childhood, and both women have had the opportunity to talk about that experience, and how to be a good parent during that time," he added.
