Gwyneth Paltrow recommends that women wash their private parts with steam
Paltrow recommended all the women on her Goop her page to steam clean their private parts. By this, she was referring to a treatment offered at a beauty salon in Los Angeles, California. This treatment consists of: "sitting on a mini-throne and a combination of infrared light and mugwort steam cleanses your uterus". This treatment costs around 45 euros.
Following this recommendation, controversy has arisen. And, it is that, many doctors have assured that its effectiveness is "doubtful", reports the BBC.
"I don't think it's recommended because it cleans out everything inside the vagina, including healthy bacteria," says Ronnie Lamont, of the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynecology in London.
For its part, the beauty salon that offers this cleaning has ensured that the steam protects the uterus from ulcers and tumors, since it fights against infections and regulates the menstrual period.
Gwyneth Paltrow is not the first time that she has sparked controversy. Already in the past she was criticized for recommending – also on the Goop page – a type of diet whose effectiveness has not been proven by any type of nutritionist.
