Lindsay Lohan Tried to Clear Up Her Comments Defending Harvey Weinstein

'As someone who has lived their life in the public eye, I feel that allegations should always be made to the authorities and not played out in the media.'

In case you missed it, Lindsay Lohan fired up her Instagram Stories earlier this week to share a series of bizarre posts about producer Harvey Weinstein.

Responding to the numerous reports detailing decades of alleged s-xual misconduct by the producer, Lohan said she was "feeling bad" for Weinstein and chastised his estranged wife, Georgina Chapman, for announcing that she was leaving him.

"He's never harmed me or did anything to me—we've done several movies together," Lohan said. "I think everyone needs to stop—I think it's wrong. So stand up."

The posts were ultimately deleted, but this is 2017—anything you do or say on the Internet lives forever.

Following the controversy over her initial comments, Lohan attempted to clarify what she meant in a statement to the Daily Mail.

"I am saddened to hear about the allegations against my former colleague Harvey Weinstein," she said. "As someone who has lived their life in the public eye, I feel that allegations should always be made to the authorities and not played out in the media."

She added, "I encourage all women who believe Harvey harmed them to report their experiences to the relevant authorities."

In recent days, numerous women have come forward to share their own harassment stories, including Gwyneth Paltrow, Angelina Jolie, and Cara Delevingne. Multiple women have also alleged that Weinstein raped them.

Weinstein's rep issued a statement in response to the allegations, saying:

"Any allegations of nonconsensual s-x are unequivocally denied by Mr. Weinstein. Mr. Weinstein has further confirmed that there were never any acts of retaliation against any women for refusing his advances. Mr. Weinstein obviously can't speak to anonymous allegations, but with respect to any women who have made allegations on the record, Mr. Weinstein believes that all of these relationships were consensual. Mr. Weinstein has begun counseling, has listened to the community and is pursuing a better path. Mr. Weinstein is hoping that, if he makes enough progress, he will be given a second chance."

Weinstein was fired from the Weinstein Company on Sunday. TMZ caught Weinstein on camera on Wednesday, and the producer said that he's "hanging in" and "trying his best."

"I’m not doing OK, but I’m trying. I gotta get help,” Weinstein said. “We all make mistakes. Second chance, I hope.”
