Anna Kendrick has opened up about her fertility journey, revealing that she has embryos with an ex-partner who she describes as "toxic".
Speaking on Dax Shephard's Armchair Expert podcast this month, the Pitch Perfect star recalled feeling that – in addition to the embryos they shared – she was losing more than just a relationship when she and her boyfriend split, but also her self-confidence.
"We had embryos together; this was my person," she said. "And then... I remember telling my brother, when things had first kind of gone down, 'I'm living with a stranger. Like, I don't know what's happening'."
"It wasn't just the 'Oh, I'm losing a relationship.' It was that I believed that if we broke up or, you know, if he left basically, it was a confirmation that it's because I'm impossible," she went on.
Previously Anna – who has not identified her ex-partner – opened up to People about the abuse she says she suffered in her relationship, explaining that she was repeatedly told she had a "distorted sense of reality" which made life "really confusing".
"My body still believes that it was my fault," she went on, admitting that processing what happened to her has been the "hardest task" of her life. "It's incredible the way that recovery has been so challenging."
