Ingrid Seward, the editor of Majesty magazine, explained that the couple wanted the Palace to announce the new titles for their children, Archie and Lilibet. However, this did not happen, as the Palace believed that the couple wanted the benefits of having titles without the accompanying responsibilities.
Instead, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced the changes to their children's titles themselves after Lilibet's christening. Seward noted that Archie and Lilibet had actually been allowed to use their new titles since their great-grandmother's passing, but Prince Harry and Meghan had chosen not to use them until now.
Seward also remarked on the fact that the couple had waited six months to make the announcement, possibly hoping that Buckingham Palace would do it for them. However, this did not occur, and the Palace left their website unchanged so that the Sussexes could make the move themselves without complaint.
