Prince Charles, the eldest son of the Queen, has taken on the role of King, while his eldest son, Prince William, is next in line for the throne. Although there has been speculation that Prince Charles may abdicate and pass the crown to William, royal expert Kate Williams believes this is unlikely.
Williams says that Prince Charles has been waiting for this opportunity and is convinced that he can do a good job as King. After Prince William, the rightful heirs to the throne are his children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, in that order.
Prince Harry, on the other hand, is now fifth in line to the throne. When he and his wife, Meghan Markle, left the UK in 2020, they confirmed that they would not be returning as senior royals.
However, they are still members of the Royal Family and theoretically have a chance to take over the throne. If Prince Harry ever becomes King, Meghan Markle will be Queen Consort, although the likelihood of this happening is fairly slim.
