The test results, which end months of speculation about the son's paternity of Hurley, were revealed at a hearing on Wednesday before the family division of the London High Court, where lawyers for Bing and Hurley were present.
"Recent testing showed that Steve Bing is the biological father of Elizabeth Hurley's son, Damian Charles Hurley," Bing spokeswoman Sue Stapley said.
Bing, 37, who was in a relationship with Hurley for 18 months, during which she became pregnant, issued a statement last December, in which he said he was not sure if he was the father, as the protagonist of "Rowling the wind" he had publicly assured.
The producer assured on that occasion that they had not had an "exclusive relationship." Hugh Grant's ex called this comment "deeply hurtful" and insisted that she had been "completely loyal and faithful" to Bing during their courtship, "as, in fact, he assured me that he was to me." British newspapers sided with her and even began calling the producer by the nickname "Bing Laden." The newspaper «Daily Mirror» published his phone number and urged
all readers to call him to protest his behavior. Bing then claimed that the tabloid press had turned his life "into hell."
Little Damian was born on April 4, and Bing began legal proceedings approximately two weeks later to establish the boy's paternity.
The DNA test results mean the actress will get substantial alimony from Bing, the millionaire grandson of New York real estate mogul Leo Bing and producer of movies like "Get Carter."
The British newspapers assured yesterday that the actress is “excited”. "She never wanted to take all this to justice and would have preferred that the issue not take so much publicity," a friend of the model revealed to the "Daily Mail". "All she wanted was for Steve to take responsibility for him."
"Steve commenced proceedings in Britain to obtain some certainty as to the child's paternity," according to Stapley. “He is now happy that (the matter) is resolved. He always said that if it was proven that he was the father of the child, he would give a generous pension and that he wanted to be involved in raising him, and that is still true," he added.
Hurley, 37, the former face of the cosmetics firm Estée Lauder and star in movies like "To Hell With The Devil" and "Austin Powers," began dating Bing in 2000, after thirteen years of dating Hugh. Grant. He, who still shares interests with Liz Hurley in the production company they have in common, supported her ex throughout the pregnancy, but he doesn't want to be little Damian's godfather.
