Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle were faced with a number of
options by the Royal Family before they made the decision to step back from
their royal duties, commonly referred to as "Megxit".
In his memoir 'Spare', Harry revealed that during a meeting in Sandringham, he was presented with five different choices and was asked to select one. These options were sent to him and Meghan via email.
The first option was to continue as things were, with the couple remaining in Britain and attempting to restore normalcy. The fifth option was a complete severance, with no royal duties, no work for the Queen, and the loss of their security.
Option three was a compromise, somewhere in between the two extremes and closest to their initial proposal.
