Lady Gaga Skips Oscars Performance for 'Joker' Sequel Conflict

Lady Gaga was scheduled to perform her Oscar-nominated song, "Hold My Hand" from the movie "Top Gun: Maverick," at the 95th Academy Awards on Sunday, March 12th, 2023.

However, the singer had to decline the invitation due to conflicts with her filming schedule for the upcoming Joker sequel Folie à Deux. The news was announced by Oscars producer Glenn Weiss during a press conference on Wednesday, March 8th, 2023.

Despite having a good relationship with Lady Gaga and her team, Weiss explained that the singer was unable to deliver a performance to the caliber that they were used to due to her movie commitments. The Academy Awards typically feature performances of all nominated songs during the ceremony.

Lady Gaga previously performed at the 2019 Oscars, where she won Best Original Song for "Shallow" from "A Star Is Born" and was also nominated for Best Actress. She also received a Best Original Song nomination in 2016 for "Til It Happens to You" from "The Hunting Ground."
