The Duke of Sussex discussed his upcoming memoir, Spare, and how he dealt with trauma during his time in the royal family.
During the chat, Harry shared that he related to his mother over their shared experience of not fitting in with the rest of the royal family, stating: "Certainly throughout my life, throughout my younger years, I always felt slightly different to the rest of my family."
He went on to describe feeling trapped and like he didn't belong, saying that it was almost like he had to suppress his true self in order to fit in with the expectations of his family.
For Harry, writing his memoir was an act of service, as he hoped it would give people permission to talk about their own struggles and be their authentic selves. He acknowledged that societal expectations can be particularly challenging, but noted that the pressure is even greater within his own family. Despite this, he remains hopeful that his story will inspire others to speak their truth and break free from the constraints of societal norms.
