He recently appeared in court for the second day as he pursues his case against the Associated Newspapers. In a witness statement submitted before his civil claim against the media group, Harry said that the royal family had withheld information from him about phone hacking.
He claimed that they didn't want him to bring a claim as it would "open a can of worms". This is Harry's first visit to the UK since the publication of his memoir, "Spare".
Harry further said that he was "conditioned to accept" his family's rule to "never complain, never explain" when dealing with the press. He became aware that he had a claim that he could bring against News Group Newspapers in 2018.
He also stated that the Institution (royal family) was without a doubt withholding information from him for a long time about NGN's phone hacking, and that has only become clear in recent years as he has pursued his own claim with different legal advice and representation.
Prince Harry is one of the group of claimants, including Sir Elton John, Liz Hurley, and Sadie Frost, against Associated Newspapers accusing them of numerous breaches of privacy. However, the publisher denies all the allegations.
Harry also mentioned that the bubble burst in terms of what he knew in 2020 when he moved out of the United Kingdom. He clarified that there was never any centralized discussion between them about who had brought claims, as each office in the Institution is siloed. He further emphasized that there is a misconception that they are all in constant communication with each other, but that is not true.
