In his memoir titled 'Spare', Prince Harry opens up about his relationship
with King Charles III. Specifically, he talks about the difficulties that arose
from his dependency on the monarch.
In 2020, the new king reduced Prince Harry's security, which caused him to reflect on his situation.
The Duke of Sussex notes that it was absurd for a man in his mid-thirties to be financially cut off by his own father.
However, the situation was more complicated because King Charles III was not just his father, but also his boss, banker, and comptroller - in other words, he controlled Prince Harry's finances throughout his adult life.
Losing this financial support was equivalent to being fired without redundancy pay and left him feeling like he had been rendered unemployable after a lifetime of service.
