Despite receiving an invitation to the historic event, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have not made any public statement on the matter. However, they have missed the RSVP deadline for the ceremony, which was on April 3.
With the Coronation only a month away, Buckingham Palace staff are still unaware of whether the couple will attend or not. According to sources, even the Royal insiders are unsure about the matter.
The Palace has not commented on the issue, but an aide has suggested that there might not be a strict cut-off date for family members as there would be for other guests.
However, this silence from Meghan and Harry has caused concerns for King Charles regarding their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. The young children will not have a role at the Coronation, and the couple's refusal to confirm their attendance has put the King in a difficult situation.
It has been described by a royal author as "heartbreaking" for King Charles. Additionally, Prince Louis, the youngest child of Prince William and Kate, is also expected not to have a role at the Coronation.
Meanwhile, the teams are working hard to finalize plans for 2,000 guests, including many international heads of state and VIPs, amidst the uncertainty caused by Meghan and Harry's lack of response.
