The Duchess of Sussex was reportedly hoping that senior members of the royal family would ask her to attend the event, but it was confirmed earlier this month that only her husband, Prince Harry, will be present.
Psychiatrist and royal expert Carole Lieberman suggested that Meghan's recent low profile may be due to her mixed feelings about staying home for the coronation.
"As we head closer to the big day, she's feeling left out, and a little sorry that she agreed to stay home," Lieberman said.
Lieberman also speculated that Meghan may have hoped to be asked to attend the ceremony by the royal family, but acknowledged that this was unlikely to happen.
Buckingham Palace announced that Meghan will stay in California with her children, Archie and Lilibet, on May 6th.
