Upon returning from a reception at Buckingham Palace for recipients of the Princes Trust Awards, the monarch was said to have been briefed. However, the specific details of the conversation between the king and the couple, who are currently based in the United States, remain unknown.
Omid Scobie, a journalist and author known for his friendship with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, stated that no member of the royal family has contacted the couple.
In response to the incident, Harry and Meghan's spokesperson revealed that the couple, along with Meghan's mother, were involved in a harrowing car chase with paparazzi photographers after attending an awards ceremony in New York.
According to the spokesperson, the incident involved several cars with blacked-out windows driving recklessly, endangering the lives of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, as well as Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland.
The spokesperson's statement described the car chase lasting over two hours, resulting in multiple near collisions involving other drivers, pedestrians, and even two officers from the New York Police Department (NYPD).
While the couple were understandably shaken by the ordeal, fortunately, they emerged physically unharmed.
