Despite serving in the army for a decade and completing two tours in Afghanistan, Harry has not been permitted to wear his military uniform to the event.
Instead, he is expected to wear a morning suit, following royal protocol that bars non-working members of the royal family from wearing military uniforms to official state occasions.
Harry and Meghan announced their intention to step down from their roles as senior members of the royal family in January 2020, and have since relocated to the US. As a non-working member of the royal family, Harry was initially not allowed to wear his military uniform during the September funeral proceedings for Queen Elizabeth II.
However, he was ultimately granted permission to wear his uniform while standing vigil at the late monarch's coffin alongside the Prince of Wales and Her Majesty's six other grandchildren at King Charles III's request.
While Harry reportedly made no specific requests about his outfit for the coronation, he is set to attend the event alone, as Meghan and their two children will remain in California.
The coronation is expected to be a more low-key affair than the Queen's in 1953, with a reduced guest list and a more relaxed dress code. King Charles III is reportedly considering wearing his military uniform instead of the traditionally opulent dress associated with the coronation ceremony.
Harry's older brother, Prince William, is also expected to wear his military uniform to the event.
