Prince Harry Faces Massive Legal Bill After UK Govt Security Case Defeat

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, upon stepping away from their royal duties in 2020, lost their publicly-funded security provided by the UK taxpayers. In a recent development, Prince Harry, also known as the Duke of Sussex, faced a setback as he failed in his attempt to challenge the UK government regarding his security arrangements while he was in the country.

As a consequence of this defeat, Prince Harry could potentially be burdened with a substantial legal bill, amounting to approximately £500,000.

The Daily Mail reported the news after Prince Harry's unsuccessful bid for a second legal challenge against the British Home Office pertaining to his security arrangements within the UK.

Notably, Omid Scobie, a trusted friend and royal expert of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, shared the information on Twitter.

According to his tweet, Mr. Justice Chamberlain at the High Court denied permission for the Duke of Sussex to apply for a judicial review, challenging the decision that prohibited him from privately financing his own police security while in the country.

However, it should be noted that this ruling does not mark the end of the security dispute. Prince Harry has already secured the right to a full judicial review against the Home Office regarding the primary decision to deny him protective security. Furthermore, his legal team has the option to appeal the recent ruling.

It is essential to mention that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex forfeited their publicly-funded protection upon their departure from frontline royal duties in 2020, subsequently relocating to the United States.
