Prince Harry Struggles with Financial Loss Amid Legal Cases

According to a lawyer's assessment, Prince Harry might face a significant financial setback even if he emerges victorious in most of the cases he has filed in the London Court.

Mark Stephens, a lawyer based in the UK working at Howard Kennedy, examined the legal situation of the Duke of Sussex and shared his insights with Newsweek. Stephens suggested that Prince Harry could end up with a bill ranging from $15 million to $20 million.

Interestingly, this amount surpasses the value of his Montecito mansion, which he acquired for $14.7 million together with his wife Meghan Markle. Stephens acknowledged Prince Harry's efforts to support the legal landscape in London, and as a lawyer, he appreciated that. However, he questioned the prudence of such a massive undertaking.

Stephens explained that regardless of the outcome, pursuing these legal cases would leave Prince Harry at a net loss. Even if he were to win some or all of them, he would not be able to recover the full costs incurred. The lawyer predicted that the prince might only receive "60 or 70 percent" of his expenses, which would still result in a financial setback.

To put it into perspective, let's consider that Prince Harry is spending between £6 million ($7.5 million) and £10 million ($12.5 million) on these cases. If he were to win all of them, he would recover £6 million but still be left with a significant outstanding bill. However, if he were to lose any of these cases, he could be obliged to pay an additional £6 million to the opposing side.

Presently, Prince Harry has six ongoing cases at London's Royal Courts of Justice, one of which he has already lost. This particular case involved his attempt to challenge the British Government's responsibility to fund his personal security.
