Princess Diana's Bodyguard Claims More to Harry and Meghan's Car Chase Story

Princess Diana's Bodyguard Claims More to Harry and Meghan's Car Chase Story

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have strongly refuted allegations that accuse them of fabricating the details of a recent car chase incident.

Lee Sansum, a former bodyguard of Princess Diana, believes that the public is not being provided with the complete story, suggesting that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle might be embellishing the events surrounding the car chase.

In an interview with Fox News Digital, Sansum expressed his view that the information presented to the public through the press is only a partial account of what actually transpired.

On Tuesday, May 16th, 2023, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, accompanied by Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland, were en route to a friend's private residence when the incident occurred. The couple's spokesperson described it as a "near-catastrophic car chase at the hands of a ring of highly aggressive paparazzi."

Following the incident, the New York Police Department (NYPD) classified it as a "challenging" transportation situation. Mayor Eric Adams of the city commented that he found it difficult to believe that there was a two-hour high-speed chase. Additionally, the taxi driver who briefly drove the group stated to the Washington Post, "I never felt like I was in danger. It wasn't like a car chase in a movie. They were quiet and seemed scared but it's New York—it's safe."

Subsequently, numerous media outlets and experts criticized the couple for allegedly exaggerating the events they encountered. Sansum, drawing from his past experiences, expressed his thoughts on the matter, stating, "Whether it's entirely the accurate story, it's one version of the story. But based on my past experiences, the paparazzi and the individuals taking photographs are extremely intrusive. Eventually, it takes a toll on you."

"At first, you can cope with it and endure it. However, it becomes increasingly oppressive. Even the most composed individuals reach a breaking point and say, 'Enough, man.'"

Sansum highlighted Princess Diana's tragic accident as a "classic example" of a paparazzi pursuit that ended in disaster. He expressed disbelief that such behavior by paparazzi, which puts the public at risk, is allowed.

"It's absolutely absurd that these individuals are permitted to engage in such actions and endanger the public by pursuing others," Sansum remarked.

"We use the term 'chasing,' assuming they are driving at high speeds. They don't necessarily have to be speeding, but they aggressively maneuver through traffic, cutting people off... They navigate through traffic assertively to capture a photograph that will generate income for them. This behavior places people at risk."
