The beloved "Friends" actress shared her sentiments with The Wall Street Journal, expressing that she now feels even "closer" to her father, the famed "Days of Our Lives" star, than she did during his lifetime.
Jennifer recounted a poignant moment that she considers a sign from her father after his passing at the age of 89. She disclosed that she had placed a cherished crystal into her father John's jacket while he was in his coffin. However, upon returning from his funeral, Jennifer was astonished to discover that the crystal had seemingly broken. To her surprise, she found a fragment of it on her vanity.
Jennifer shared with the publication, "I feel closer to him now than I did almost when he was alive. I feel like he’s everywhere. I really do."
The talented actor, who shared a complex relationship with her father due to his absence during her childhood, intends to transform the remaining piece of the crystal into an amulet as a way to preserve the meaningful sign left by John.
John had left Jennifer and her mother, Nancy Dow, when Jennifer was just nine years old, and he remained out of their lives for a year before unexpectedly reentering.
Jennifer explained that her acting career played a pivotal role in bridging the gap between her and her father, who was also an actor. Initially, he had been resistant to her pursuit of acting, fearing it would lead to despair and heartbreak.
However, their relationship evolved when they discovered a shared passion for acting, which brought them closer together. Jennifer reflected, "He thought I was going down the road of absolute destruction and heartache," adding, "And then I kind of got a whole different relationship with him once he had something to talk to me about. Which was, ‘Oh, you’re an actor. I’m an actor.’
