Meghan Markle Faces Criticism Over 'Ironic' Message Before Invictus Games

Meghan Markle, the wife of Prince Harry, is gearing up to deliver a personal message to wounded, injured, and sick servicemen and women at the forthcoming Invictus Games. Her involvement in this key European event has generated significant attention, but not all of it has been positive.

The Duchess of Sussex has found herself under fire for what some consider an "ironic" message she is poised to convey during the Invictus Games in Germany. Renowned royal biographer Angela Levin has weighed in on Meghan's planned message, predicting that she will focus on themes of "courage and resilience." Yet, Levin's assessment of this choice as "ironic" has sparked controversy.

Levin remarked, "Meghan is scheduled to participate in the Invictus Games and speak to the veterans about courage and resilience. I found that quite ironic because she, in many people's view, does not embody either of these qualities."

This controversy surrounding Meghan's involvement in the Invictus Games comes in the wake of Prince Harry's teaser for his upcoming Netflix documentary, which centers on the games. In the trailer for "Heart of Invictus," Harry discusses his experiences setting up the initiative and delves into his relationships with veterans.

Notably, Meghan was absent from the first trailer for the series, raising questions about her level of participation in the show itself.

Levin shared her observations, saying, "In the advert for the series, Harry appeared more like the Harry I knew in 2017 when I was writing his biography. He had a profound connection with the soldiers who had endured mental or physical injuries. They credited him with giving them hope to carry on. I once asked him if he used this as a way to cope with his own mental health challenges."

Levin continued, "I expected him to dismiss the idea, but he paused for about a minute before responding. He admitted, 'You're right, it does help me.' I can't help but wonder if he's emerging from the difficult period he's been going through, slowly returning to his former self. He used to be content, but that's not the case now."

Prince Harry is scheduled to travel to Germany for the upcoming Invictus Games, set to commence on September 9. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's series, which explores the Invictus Games, is set to premiere on August 30 on the streaming service.
