This revamped menu is prominently displayed at the top of the website. Another noteworthy addition is the "Their Majesty's Work as Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall" section, which links to an archive of speeches, messages, press releases, and news from the Clarence House website. King Charles and Queen Camilla have resided at Clarence House since 2003 and operated their office under the same name until Charles ascended to the throne in September 2022, following Queen Elizabeth's passing.
At that time, it was announced that the couple would transition to using the official Royal Family social media pages instead of the Clarence House accounts. Although the Clarence House accounts remain accessible on Twitter and Instagram, they are no longer updated. Instead, followers are encouraged to follow the Royal Family's accounts for updates on King Charles III and the Queen Consort.
However, it's worth noting that the Royal UK website has not been fully updated following Queen Elizabeth's passing. An explainer on proper protocol for greeting a member of the royal family still refers to her as the sovereign. Additionally, some changes have introduced inaccuracies, such as referring to King Charles as the Prince of Wales and addressing Prince William and Kate Middleton as the Prince and Princess of Wales instead of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, which they were known as before the Queen's death. These discrepancies were still present as of August 4.
Buckingham Palace has offered an explanation for these delays, stating that the royal family website contains over 5000 pages of information about the life and work of the royal family. In light of Queen Elizabeth II's passing, content is being revisited and updated periodically, which may result in some outdated information.
These latest adjustments to the royal family website come approximately two weeks after Prince Harry's "His Royal Highness" title was removed from his biography. Sometime between August 4 and August 9, two references to this title were removed, specifically those tied to his work on raising awareness about HIV/AIDS in 2016. These references have been replaced with "The Duke of Sussex." Notably, Prince Harry did not receive the Duke of Sussex title from Queen Elizabeth until his wedding to Meghan Markle in May 2018.
Despite these changes, Prince Harry and Meghan's biographies are still featured on the main Royal Family tab of the Royal UK site, with their profiles appearing last on the landing page. The fate of their Sussex titles was clarified after they announced their decision to step back as working members of the royal family in 2020.
Following the Sandringham Summit, during which Prince Harry met with Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles, and Prince William to discuss their future roles, Buckingham Palace revealed that the Sussexes would no longer use their HRH titles since they were no longer working members of the Royal Family. Formally, Prince Harry and Meghan are still referred to as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, but they often introduce themselves simply as Harry and Meghan, particularly since relocating to California.
It's important to note that their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, inherited their royal titles as a birthright when their grandfather, Prince Charles, became the monarch. However, these titles will primarily be used in formal settings and not in everyday use.
