"Suits" continues to enjoy a massive following through reruns. Inside sources have revealed that Meghan is enthusiastic about returning to television, with a strong desire to take on a dramatic film role and even dreams of an Oscar in her future.
Over the past five years, she may have been overlooked, but now she's actively seeking new opportunities and engaging in discussions with prominent directors and producers. Harry is fully supportive of her ambitions, knowing that acting is Meghan's true passion.
However, Meghan's anticipation for the "Suits" spin-off was dashed when the role went to another actress who held a higher ranking than the Duchess. The show, originally starring Gina Torres, has been added to the NBC Universal streaming service. Peacock hopes that fans of "Suits" will discover the spin-off, which is not available on Netflix. "Pearson" had a brief one-season run in 2019 before its cancellation.
The series revolved around the character Jessica Pearson, a formidable lawyer who delves into the corrupt world of Chicago politics. Besides Gina Torres, it featured Bethany Joy Lenz, Morgan Spector, Chantal Riley, Simon Kassianides, Ellie Gary, and Isabella Ariza.
"Pearson" originated as a backdoor pilot from the season seven finale of "Suits" and was produced by Aaron Korsh, the creator of "Suits," along with executive producer Daniel Arkin, who served as showrunner. While the show garnered success, there are currently no plans for additional spin-offs. Aaron Korsh recently clarified that Meghan Markle's character in "Suits" was a supporting role, ranking sixth on the call sheet, and never had a central storyline dedicated solely to her character.
She earned considerably less than the lead cast members and didn't enjoy the same perks. Meghan received royalties for only two seasons since her contract didn't grant royalties until season six. She departed the show after season seven, and her character's departure was due to Patrick J. Adams voluntarily leaving the series. The creators couldn't find a compelling storyline for Rachel Zane without Mike.
This summer, "Suits" broke streaming records, achieving 3.1 billion viewing minutes during a week in late June to early July across Netflix and Peacock. The show's first season also garnered 27.7 million hours of viewing after being added to Netflix, consistently ranking in the platform's top 10 for several weeks.
