Over the past few months, the feud between Prince Harry and his older brother, Prince William, has escalated to a point where many experts believe it's irreparable.
Both couples, William and Kate, as well as Harry and Meghan, have exacerbated the tensions in their relationship, and it appears that their divide has grown so wide that there may be no turning back, according to one expert.
Paul Burrell, a close friend of Princess Diana and a former butler, expressed his concerns, saying, "The problem is that once hurtful words are spoken, they can't be unsaid, and people have been deeply wounded."
Burrell goes on to suggest that Harry and Meghan's criticisms of Kate have gone too far and deeply affected the future king. He adds, "I believe William is hurt because his wife, Kate, has been criticized unfairly. Kate has always conducted herself impeccably, never putting a foot wrong."
He also highlights the controversy surrounding Meghan and Kate's alleged disagreement over bridesmaids' dresses shortly before Meghan's wedding as a particularly painful episode for William. According to Burrell, this incident felt like a betrayal and was the breaking point for William. He might have forgiven Harry for their past quarrels and physical fights, but questioning Kate's integrity crossed a line.
"Sure, brothers can have disagreements and engage in rough and tumble, even breaking a dog bowl," Burrell notes, "but criticizing Kate, who has made countless sacrifices for her role and to secure the future of the monarchy, is something William simply cannot accept."
Burrell also points out that William feels somewhat powerless to defend his wife, and Harry is well aware of this vulnerability. Thus, the ongoing criticisms directed at Kate persist as an unfortunate reality. The Royal Family, Burrell emphasizes, strongly disapproves of private and intimate matters being aired publicly and their laundry being washed in the open.
Ultimately, it appears that this rift between the brothers and their respective spouses cannot be easily repaired, as too much has been said and their lives have diverged in pursuit of different dreams and ideals.
