Givenchy Takes a Stand: Meghan Markle Barred from Purchasing Their Products Amidst Backlash Over Charlotte Dress

A new exhibition featuring Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's bridal outfits is currently on display at Windsor Castle, the charming setting of their nuptials. The exhibition's main attraction is the exquisite gown that Givenchy's design director, Clare Waight Keller, made for Meghan on her wedding day. Notably, Princess Charlotte and Prince George's outfits are also on display.

According to recent reports, there might be some conflict over Meghan's dress, especially in regards to the hemline. There are rumours that Xenia might not be quite happy with Meghan's selection because of worries about the dress's hemline.

These sources further allege that Princess Catherine, also known as Kate, expressed deep emotional distress after Meghan purportedly made disparaging remarks about Princess Charlotte's outfit during a fitting session prior to her wedding to Prince Harry in May 2018.

The reported disagreements revolved around the dress's length, its cut, and whether or not Princess Charlotte should wear tights on her special day. Kate believed the dress was too short and that Charlotte should wear tights to prevent discomfort, especially considering the hot pavement that could cause blistering without them. Megan's assistant, Melissa Tuba, and the dress fitters working with Clare Waight Keller, were said to have witnessed Meghan strongly rejecting Catherine's suggestions.

Sources indicated that Catherine disapproved of the dress's length because it allegedly violated royal protocol, and she was concerned about the potential for blisters on Charlotte's feet without the addition of tights and stockings in the heat. Megan, it seems, wanted every detail about Princess Charlotte's attire to complement her own wedding vision.

AJ Mory, the tailor responsible for Megan Markle's bridesmaid dresses, confirmed that adjustments had to be made due to fitting issues. While he did not personally witness any confrontation between Catherine and Megan, he acknowledged the stress involved in discovering ill-fitting dresses and the subsequent need for alterations.

According to Prince Harry's memoir, just four days before the wedding, Catherine messaged Megan expressing Charlotte's dissatisfaction with the dress's fit. In the alleged text exchange, Catherine voiced concerns about the dress being too big, too long, and too baggy. Megan's response suggested having the tailor, who had been at Kensington Palace since 8:00 a.m., alter Charlotte's dress, just as other mothers were doing. Catherine, however, held her ground, and even Sarah Burton, Katherine's wedding dress designer, agreed with her, resulting in the dresses needing to be completely remade.

This situation has raised questions about Givenchy's involvement in the dressmaking process, particularly given the brand's prestige. It is noteworthy that Meghan Markle's unsolicited advice and opinions have been criticized. Some have pointed out that she offers advice without holding weight in her words, and this has led to backlash against her.

Royal commentator Angela Levin, during an interview with GB News, accused Meghan of trying to give advice when she no longer holds any significance in the UK, just like her husband, Prince Harry. In Levin's view, they are not considered Royals and lack the necessary experience. She also suggested that the couple may prioritize individuals with substantial financial resources and criticized them for their use of private jets for their recent island getaway. These allegations come in the wake of Meghan and Harry's involvement in discussions about the implications of climate change.
