According to an excerpt from the book, "By the next morning, the Sussexes had no idea that Buckingham Palace was already planning for the Queen's final hours in the first days of the monarchy's new era until the Duke's phone started ringing with an unknown number."
Scobby, who co-authored the 2020 biography "Finding Freedom" concerning the departure of Meghan and Harry from the royal family, asserts that Harry was urged by Meghan to answer the phone when it was revealed to be his father, Prince Charles. Charles apprised Harry of his and Camilla's impending departure from Dumfries House to Balmoral, where Princess Anne was already present at the Queen's side. He further advised Harry to promptly travel to Scotland.
It is noteworthy that hours later, on his own aircraft, Harry arrived at Balmoral, whereas during the final hours of the Queen's life, her bedside in Scotland were already King Charles and Princess Anne, her two eldest children. Prince Harry disclosed in his autobiography that he checked the BBC news channels upon landing while his aircraft was still in flight and learned of the Queen's passing.
The forthcoming publication by Scobby, "End Game," scheduled for later this month, offers an in-depth analysis of the British monarchy in its present condition. The promotional materials for the book prominently feature three royal couples—Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, King Charles and Queen Camilla, and Prince William and Kate Middleton. As draconian practices, familial dysfunction, and mistrust threaten the monarchy's future, Harper Collins, the book's publisher, has described certain passages as "revealing moments that the Royals should be ashamed of."
