Meghan Markle Envious as Beckham Generates £72.6 Million Profit, While Sussex Brand Struggles

In 2024, David Beckham seems to be thriving, generating a staggering £72.6 million in profits. This remarkable success can be attributed to the immense popularity of his Netflix documentary. Meanwhile, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, known as the Sussexes, are facing a different fate after a challenging 2023. The former football star and his wife, Victoria Beckham, are on track to potentially reach a remarkable £100 million next year. This is especially noteworthy as Victoria's fashion brand has turned a profit for the first time in 15 years.

Their revealing four-part documentary series, which debuted on October 4th, offered an intimate glimpse into the Beckhams' marriage, early romance, family life, and David's football career. Financial reports released on Friday disclosed that David Beckham Ventures Limited and Seven Gold and Seven Global LLP generated an impressive £72.6 million in profit through sponsorships and his production company. A recent report suggested that the documentary, which drew a record-breaking 3.8 million viewers in its first week, contributed over £2 million to their earnings.

An insider shared with The Sun that it's been a golden year for David Beckham, with the Netflix documentary deal alone worth over £2 million. Its tremendous success has been a vindication of sorts, as David continues to receive numerous commercial and partnership offers, making him more in demand than ever, despite retiring from football a decade ago. In the meantime, the Beckhams' former friends, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, have faced a significant setback.

Their brand suffered a major blow in 2023, with The Hollywood Reporter labeling them as two of the biggest losers in Hollywood. Despite their relentless media coverage and the hype surrounding their various projects, including Prince Harry's book, the Netflix documentary, Meghan's podcast, and Harry's TV appearances in the USA, their efforts failed to translate into success for their core business. The Archewell Foundation, in particular, saw a staggering $1 million drop in donations over the past year, pushing it into the red.

This decline doesn't come as a surprise to some, as earlier this year, it was already evident that Harry's brand was in crisis and imploding. The couple now faces the challenge of delivering a success in 2024 to turn their careers around, according to a public relations expert. If they fail to achieve this goal, Hollywood may decide that it has seen enough of them.

Royal PR expert Mark Bowski noted that something is beginning to unravel in the world of Meghan and Harry, and he predicts that 2024 will be a pivotal year for them. He emphasized that they must find a new, positive approach to regain their momentum. However, Bowski also issued a warning that if they can't chart a new path to success, they are likely to fail.

Some insiders believe that Meghan's success in the entertainment industry may hinge on her apologizing to Prince William and reconciling with the royal family. William, who has held the position of president of the British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA) for years, wields enough influence to potentially hinder her success. As a result, Meghan and Harry may need to extend an olive branch and seek reconciliation within the royal circles to secure their place in the entertainment industry.
