BBC's Royal Correspondent, Michael Cole, articulated the viewpoint that the American public has grown somewhat fatigued with the perpetual stream of criticisms emanating from the Sussexes. He posited that their continuous critique has begun to alienate both the public and industry affiliates alike. In Cole's own words: “The American populace has, to put it bluntly, grown weary of their penchant for infusing an aura of negativity into virtually every facet they touch.”
“It is an undeniable fact that, over the past year, their endeavors have achieved little more than to estrange themselves from the American public and the influential media conglomerates that enlist their services. This, in addition to creating a chasm of ever-increasing proportions between themselves and the Royal Family.”
These words of caution come on the heels of a pivotal juncture in the year 2023. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle initiated the year on a promising note with the release of their Netflix documentary and Harry's autobiographical work. However, their credibility was tarnished by questionable allegations of paparazzi pursuit in New York, and their Spotify podcast met an untimely demise amid allegations of misconduct.
PR virtuoso, Mark Borkowski, expounded on the principle that the world of entertainment gravitates towards triumph and financial prosperity, eschewing any associations with apparent "fiascos." He prognosticated that the year 2024 could prove to be a "tectonic" period for the Sussexes' brand, where they either stage a recovery or experience a complete dissolution.
Borkowski remarked: “The entertainment industry has an inherent allure for success and financial achievements. Entities akin to 'turkeys' are only permissible during the Thanksgiving season. Speculation abounds that the industry may be growing weary of their continual presence.”
“The fundamental dynamics within the essence of Meghan and Harry are exhibiting signs of unraveling. I foresee that 2024 will be an era of monumental shifts, a juncture where they must either embark on a course of recovery and reorientation, adopting a more constructive strategy – or face the impending dissolution of their brand. It can only evolve in one of two divergent directions; it cannot endure in its present state, for that path has proven inherently non-viable,” he appended.
Furthermore, he accentuated, “The relentless and pervasive scrutiny that perpetually envelops the Sussexes does not augur well for their prospects; it is akin to an inexorable abyss. In the realm of Tinseltown, negativity is met with resolute aversion.”
