This development raises concerns for Meghan and Harry, as their home may have been unoccupied during one of these burglaries, coinciding with their trip to Jamaica. Rachel added that investigators observed a pattern, with most crimes occurring between 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. The most recent burglaries took place on Wednesday, January 24th, 2024, in the 1,500 block of Last Tunas in Montecito and two in the 800 block of Sand Point Lane, Carpenter. The suspects in these cases are reportedly targeting safes.
This is not the first time Harry and Meghan have been alerted about potential security threats. In July 2022, it was revealed that their mansion had experienced six break-in alerts within the first 14 months of their move to America, two of which were intruder scares, prompting police responses. Both incidents were logged as trespassers, property crimes, and suspicious circumstances. In response, the couple invested a significant sum, reportedly $2 million, in security measures after their royal bodyguards were withdrawn. Currently, they employ Christopher Sanchez, Barack Obama's former security guard.
However, concerns about security were not limited to their home. During their recent trip to Jamaica, reports surfaced that Meghan and Harry were perceived as disrespectful towards King Charles as they engaged with individuals known for their anti-monarch sentiments. The couple was seen chatting on the red carpet with Marlene Malahoo Forte, the Caribbean Isles Minister for Legal and Constitutional Affairs, who had previously expressed intentions to sever ties with the British Monarchy. The Sussexes also posed for a photo with Prime Minister Andrew Holness and his wife, Juliet, raising eyebrows.
