Prince Harry faced accusations of trolling his father, King Charles, after he selected a specific date and included business documents indicating his residence in the US. In his official business documents, the Duke of Sussex chose the date he was evicted from Frogmore Cottage to declare his primary residence in California.
Royal editor Charlotte Griffith, speaking to GB News, suggested that the Royal Family's decision was a result of bitterness over his father's decision to evict him and Meghan from Frogmore Cottage. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex had been living at Windsor House before it was vacated to make way for Prince Andrew. The couple then left the royal family in 2020 and moved to America.
Speaking to GB News presenter Ben Leo, Griffith explained that the prince had the right to choose any date on the file and could have chosen the date he and Meghan officially stepped down as working members of the royal family. She noted, "I don't believe he put it there on purpose."
Griffiths added, "I think he was trolling his dad a bit because he could have said he had been living in America since 2020 when he left the UK and moved to the US, but instead he chose the exact day his father kicked him out of Frogmore." She explained that the reason his father kicked him out of Frogmore was because he scolded Camila in his memoir, "Spare".
"It was obviously a really difficult decision for Charles because no father wants to kick his child out of the house, but he overstepped," Griffiths said.
Mark Griffiths added that the Sussexes had spent around 2.4 million pounds renovating the house just to move out of it. The royal publisher told Ben, "Harry is furious at this move. There's nothing random about Harry. He's a bit angry and can't let go of his past. Why is he so obsessed with Frogmore? This was the country he desperately wanted to escape. It was a house he didn't really want to live in and didn't really live in either."
Ben replied, "I'm afraid Harry and Meghan have left the UK. They said the focus will be on a new life away from the hell of Britain and all the trauma they went through with the royal family. Since then, all they've done is look back and complain about how they were treated."
Ben continued, "And if that's true, then the fact that he chose the day to dig at the king is just another manifestation of his vindictive nature." Griffiths agreed, saying, "I'm sure Harry having to foot the bill for the refurbishment has made him angrier at the whole situation. He thought he was getting a great free gift. There were reports at the time that Meghan actually thought she was going to move into Frogmore House, a much larger estate, but she felt a bit tricked or confused and didn't really realize what it was like. What is that for a house with only eight people bedroom?"
