Taylor Swift Hints She Threw Meghan Markle's Strawberry Jam Gift Into the Bin on 'The Late Night Show with Jimmy'

Taylor Swift's appearance on 'The Late Night Show with Jimmy Fallon' sparked controversy when an apparently innocent interview took an unexpected turn. Speculation swirled across the internet as viewers analyzed Swift's comments, wondering if she had subtly criticized Meghan Markle. While nothing has been confirmed, let's break down the interview segment that's causing such a stir.

In the light-hearted exchange, Fallon asked Swift about her habit of re-recording her old albums. Known for her quick wit, Swift responded, 'Well, Jimmy, let me tell you, if you find yourself creatively stifled in a business deal, sometimes you have to stand up for yourself. Sometimes you just have to start from scratch.' But it was Swift's brief pause and subsequent comments that caught attention. With a hint of sarcasm, she remarked, 'Or write an open letter.'

This simple phrase ignited a firestorm on social media. Why the focus on open letters? In 2019, Meghan Markle penned an open letter to a British tabloid, addressing her struggles with media scrutiny. The letter was a bold move, drawing both praise and criticism.

Internet sleuths were quick to draw parallels between Swift's comment and Markle's letter. Swift herself has faced public battles with the media, notably a feud with music executive Scooter Braun. Many fans interpreted Swift's remark as a subtle jab at Markle, suggesting that writing an open letter, like Markle did, might be seen as seeking sympathy instead of taking more assertive action, akin to Swift's decision to re-record her music.

Moreover, a source close to Taylor hinted that it seems she was given a jar of jam by Meghan Markle. The jars are labeled out of a run of 50, and so far, only six recipients have shared snaps of the jam. Taylor, reportedly one of the recipients, ignored Meghan's gift because she's never wanted to involve herself with Meghan Markle.

This comes as Markle's new lifestyle brand product was slammed for being ridiculous by commentators. Markle launched American Riviera Orchard and gifted influencers across the US her first product: jam. One of the people she gifted it to was her 'Suits' co-star Abigail Spencer. Spencer posted a picture on social media, posing with the condiment, showing the jam with a ring of lemons as she smiled in the sunshine.

However, royal commentator Angela Levin told GB News that she found the jam idea ridiculous. 'There's a picture of a friend of hers lying on the grass cuddling a jar of jam with lemons around it, and a dog lying next to her,' she said. 'So she's holding this as if it's someone else that she really loves. I think Meghan would have organized that because she would have given her the present. I think this is too far. I mean, it's jam.'

Breakfast host Eamonn Holmes added, 'It's stupid as well. I mean, if any of us were to bring out a product, Isabelle Webster might associate with jam, but Meghan Markle? Isabelle added, 'She used to be quite a lifestyle guru pre-Harry, so she's trying to go back to "Look at what I'm wearing, look at what I'm eating."'

Holmes then asked, 'Do you actually think jam crosses her lips?' and Isabelle added, 'Of course not. There's way too much sugar in there.' Levin explained, 'They're also saying that it comes from a garden. I mean, how many strawberries has she got? Does it mean people, 50 people? That's only enough for them. It's not going to have thousands of people asking for jam.' The brand is expected to officially launch later this spring."
